In a shocking turn of events, Marvel and Warner Bros. have announced Kevin Feige will depart Marvel and join DC Films, and Zack Snyder will depart the universe. One has to wonder what the implications are, but for now, read the full statement below!

(Burbank, California, April 1st 2016) Warner Bros. Pictures and Marvel Studios have announced today that Warner Bros. is bringing Kevin Feige into the exciting world of DC Films. It was announced today by Kevin Tsujihara, Bob Iger, Kevin Feige and Zack Snyder.

Under the deal, Kevin Feige will take control of the DC Films division of Warner Bros., and depart from Marvel Studios. Kevin Feige and his expert team will oversee the next era of DC Films. Kevin Feige oversaw the launch of the highly successful Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) 8 years ago. Zack Snyder will depart from directing Justice League, and leave the DC Films division of Warner Bros. entirely. Warner Brothers will continue to finance, distribute and own the DC characters.

Marvel and Warner Brothers are exploring options to integrate a Marvel/DC crossover in their plans. The crossover is expected to take place by 2021.

Bob Iger, Chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Company said: “After our great success with bringing Star Wars, Marvel and more to the big screen for the modern era, Kevin and I saw it best to give DC Comics fans great adaptations on the big screen. So Kevin will depart Marvel to help bring justice to the DC Universe. This will surely be a new dawn of justice for the great library of DC Characters.”

Kevin Tsujihara, Chairman and CEO of Warner Bros. Pictures said: “After Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, we saw it fit to depart with Zack Snyder and bring Kevin Feige into the great fold of DC Characters. We are excited about this new era of DC Films, and hope Feige can bring Warner Bros. the same great success he brought Marvel.”

Zack Snyder, former director of Justice League, added: “After a long discussion with Kevin Feige, Bob Iger and Kevin Tsujihara, I decided to depart DC Films. Look, I had a fantastic vision for the universe. I was going to kill off all of Superman’s supporting characters in a horrific fashion and destroy every major city in that world. All of the Justice League members would kill their major villains. It was a fantastic way to interpret the characters. Unfortunately, this vision will not be seen, and this universe will end with Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.”

“I am thrilled to work with Warner Bros. Pictures to help bring justice to the plethora of great DC Characters,” said newly appointed DC Films President Kevin Feige. “I’ve had tremendous success with Marvel, and I know I will replicate this success with DC. I will be deeply involved with this new realization on film for DC Characters. I may prefer Marvel Comics, but I cannot stand by while DC fans demand a much better vision for the DC Characters. I am happy to take over DC Films, and look forward to bringing the best possible quality to this new DC Films universe, and ensuring Batman and Superman never kill again on the big screen.”

DC Comics, embraced all over the world, will see a new era on the big screen, overseen by Kevin Feige.

UPDATE: Variety is reporting that Joe and Anthony Russo will take over Kevin Feige’s position at Marvel Studios. Developing...
This will surely disrupt the CBM Genre BIG time. What are your thoughts on this? Sound off below!
