BBC has shared another new look at Doctor Who's Ncuti Gatwa as the Fifteenth Doctor (via SFFGazette.com), and the Sex Education star promises to be the most stylish version of this time-traveller to date.
This iteration definitely stands out from his predecessors, and other officially released photos have depicted him in the Swinging Sixties and in Regency-era attire.
Returning showrunner Russell T Davies has also shared a behind-the-scenes photo from Doctor Who's set, confirming "That's a wrap!" on the upcoming fourteenth season. Filming kicked off last December, and we've previously heard the plan is to jump straight into season 15 (as a UK-based production with British actors, the SAG-AFTRA strike is unlikely to come into play).
A trailer probably isn't around the corner just yet, though Gatwa is expected to debut as the new Doctor a matter of months from now.
Everything we've seen from Davies' return to the franchise suggests the beloved show has been given a fresh lick of paint, and casting Hollywood stars like Jonathan Groff and Neil Patrick Harris is sure to increase interest.
With the show set to find a home on Disney+ outside of the UK, Doctor Who will soon have its biggest audience ever. What's said to be a significant budget increase should help it feel more in line with The Mandalorian and Star Trek: Discovery, for example, and the next couple of years should be exciting for new and old fans alike.
Doctor Who returns this November with three special episodes starring David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor to coincide with the 60th anniversary. Ncuti Gatwa's first episode as the Fifteenth Doctor will then air over the holidays as we head into 2024.
