DC SUPER HERO HIGH Comedy Series From CHARLIE'S ANGELS Director Elizabeth Banks Coming To HBO Max

In addition to Green Lantern and Strange Adventures, HBO Max has given a series order to DC Super Hero High, a new live-action comedy series from Charlie's Angels director Elizabeth Banks.

The half-hour show will focus on a group of teenagers attending a boarding school for gifted children. The young heroes and villains are "just trying to navigate the pressures of high school, but none of them realize that someday they will become legendary DC Super Heroes."

Banks will executive produce the series alongside Scott Weinger, who is also on board as a writer. There are currently no other details available.

The HBO Max streaming service is set to launch next May, and we have a trailer which gives potential customers a batter idea of the content that'll be available.

I’ve been saying WB / DC needed to double down and put more content in the pipeline.. glad to hear their investing in more DC content.. so much untapped potential.. not sure what’s gonna happen to DCU once HBO Max comes out.. hopefully they keep all of the access to the comics in addition to the streaming content .. if they remove the comics component.. it sours it for me

Doesn't really sound like my type of thing but hey, I'm also getting a live action Green Lantern series so I can't complain.

Basically a DC Super Girls TV show from the sounds of it, which means my daughter will be happy

@OmegaDaGrodd - Same boat for me.

You're probably like me, where these shows may not appeal to you, but they're a great gateway show to get your girls to try some of the other superhero fare.

@fadersdream - Yep, both my kids love CB stuff and they cut their teeth on Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends and DC Super Hero Girls

My ONLY issue is DC's use of Harley Quinn in this stuff. Normalizing that character's been something I'm still consistently troubled by.

@OmegaDaGrodd - Same. We may have talked about that before.

After the 00's double downed on how she was just as capable of extreme evil as the Joker, they're now trying to reverse that and make her a hero.

But then you have kids drawn to the silly clown with the Tara Strong voice googling her and finding dead babies and spousal abuse.

I don't mind. I know what's geared towards me, unlike some people on this site. Still should be fun, regardless.

Sounds lame. Might as well give Gotham High the green light while you’re at it.

This works rather well as an animated series, it's fun and wacky enough. But as live-action? There's no way this will end well.

Lauren Faust’s take on DC’s Superhero Girls is a lot of fun, but I have doubts about the concept in live action...

Sigh. There is so much good superhero stuff on film and television these days that it will be all the easier to let this little monstrosity slip beneath the radar.

Yes, I think it's a good idea. I think it can be great.

However, it does highlight DC's continuing lack of fixed direction.

I hope everyone that's against it feels that way because of quality and not because of the target audience.
While I didn't love Black Panther or Wonder Woman, I liked them very much. But I could appreciate that they were aimed at someone other than me, and I loved THAT fact.

I want things to exist that draw me in a direction I may not of have experienced otherwise.
