The series stars Tom Ellis (Rush) in the title role as Lucifer, who, bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell, resigns his throne and abandons his kingdom for the gorgeous, shimmering insanity of Los Angeles, where he gets his kicks helping the LAPD punish criminals. Co-starring alongside Ellis are Lauren German (Chicago Fire) as Chloe Dancer, an LAPD homicide detective who finds herself both repulsed and fascinated by Lucifer; Lesley-Ann Brandt (Spartacus) as Lucifer’s best friend Maze, a fierce demon who takes the form of a human woman; Nicholas Gonzalez (Sleepy Hollow) as Dan, an LAPD homicide detective wary of Lucifer; D.B. Woodside as Amenadiel, an angel sent to L.A. to persuade Lucifer to return to hell; and Rachael Harris as Linda, Lucifer’s therapist.

Lucifer airs in January on Fox.

Didn't anybody watch this? The studio leaked the pilot like 6 months ago.

FYI, it's one of the worst episodes of anything I've ever seen.

Well, damn. I was hoping it would look good. At least we're still getting Preacher! (every finger and toe crossed...)

I liked the leak pilot for this show. Of course it's not the comic. I didn't really read it so I went in without bias.

I will be watching this, since Constantine is gone!!

I liked it. It was close enough to the starting place of the comic. Not the ongoing series, but the character's first mini.
I still can't stop laughing when I hear the name Chloe Dancer, but I get the changes. If they hadn't gone this route with the cop mom, it would have looked very creepy pairing this horndog devil with a grade school girl.

I saw the pilot and although they veer off the source material quite a bit, the pilot was pretty damn good. I wasn't expecting it to be, but it was. This show feels like another iZombie, another sleeper hit.

Couldn't the same be said for you saying you like it?

I only have the first two collections of Lucifer. It's pretty good, but if Gaiman had written it, it would have been better. Hell, if Gaiman wrote almost everything it would be better. However, just from the teaser, it doesn't seem to be near the quality of the comic. Lucifer seems a little too jovial to me. And wanting to punish criminals? What? Lol.

I don't know anything about the comic but I really enjoyed the pilot. It seems like a fun show that unless you were told, doesn't feel "comic booky" at all. I like that.

I have already seen the pilot and believe me, it is terrible! I do not recommend it to anyone (and keep in mind that is coming from a fan of MAN OF STEEL and GOTHAM, a show and film other people besides myself seem to dislike).

A supermodel detective and the retired prince of darkness turned club owner (with a heart of gold) solve crimes in LA?

...and it's not an Adult Swim comedy?!

I don't know the source material for this, so I'm going in cold, but this looks like it could be a lot of fun.
My only issue is that this, like pretty much every other genre programme on TV (except maybe Haven) has been converted into another blasted police procedural show.
I wish networks would try broadening their horizons a little and have faith in the materials that they continue to pillage.

I thought the pilot was dope. I never read the comics and don't intend on starting so I don't have source material to interfere w/ the experience.

I'm actually surprised it got green-lit just b/c of what happened with Constantine. If people shied away from that because it dealt with the occult how would audiences feel about a show with this name.

There were some parts that were a bit contrived. Like most, I'm not a big fan of the endless cop procedural show angle.

I expected a bit more mysticism like him pulling secrets from the dead by reanimating them for a short while and I thought that the "influence" he has over others was a nice touch, but could easily become a crutch.

What really intrigued me wasn't what he does while on earth, but the shakeup his extended leave causes in Heaven/Hell. The back and forth he has with Amendiel is a nice touch. None of the cat-and-mouse we saw with John and Manny - just open hostility, which I loved.

I hope this doesn't go the way of Constantine and start out too slowly and end up getting cancelled right as its getting good.
