SWAMP THING Adds BEVERLEY HILLS 90210 And SHARKNADO Actor Ian Ziering As Blue Devil

Production is already underway on DC Universe's live-action Swamp Thing series, but THR has now brought us word on a very late cast addition. According to the trade, Ian Ziering (Beverley Hills 90210, Sharknado) has signed on to play Blue Devil.
In the comics, Daniel Cassidy was a stuntman and FX artist who becomes bonded to his Blue Devil body-suit when the demon Nebiros mistakes him for an actual hellspawn and attempts to drain his dark power. In an effort to find a way to reverse the effect, he winds up becoming a reluctant hero.
It's not clear if the small-screen take on the character will have the same origin or not, but the official description does confirm a few details:
“Stuntman turned movie star, Daniel Cassidy became semi-famous after playing the demonic Blue Devil. But now, eight years later, Cassidy finds himself living out his days in frustration, pining for his former fame while on a collision course with destiny.”
Swamp Thing is being developed as a one-hour show, and has Mark Verheiden (Battlestar Galactica) and Gary Dauberman (It) on board to write the pilot. They'll also executive produce alongside Michael Clear and James Wan. Len Wiseman will helm the first episode.
No premiere date has been announced yet.
