The DC Universe streaming service's live-action Swamp Thing series is scheduled to begin filming this September, and on the heels of character breakdowns for Alec Holland and Abigail Arcane, we have two more descriptions courtesy of That Hashtag Show.

The first is for a supporting character named Matt Cable, who should be familiar to fans of the early Len Wein comics as well as Neil Gaiman's Sandman (it's a long story, but remember Morpheus' raven Mathew? Same guy).

This take on Cable is described as "the sheriff of the town and former high school sweetheart to Abby Arcane. A good guy with anger issues." Apparently, DC is looking for someone in their mid-30s to fill this role and are using Westworld actor James Marsden as their prototype.

We have far less to go on for the villain of the piece, but we do know that an actor in their late-40s to late-50s "in the mold of Lawrence Fishburne or Jeff Goldblum" is being sought to play a “smart, slick and cunning” baddie. There are a few possibilities, but speculation points to Abby's deranged uncle and The Earth Elemental's nemesis, Anton Arcane.

What do you guys think? Are you looking forward to The DC Universe's Swamp Thing? Sound off below.

Dope. This is sounding cooler and cooler by the day. It's definitely my most-anticipated DC streaming property.

Robert Englund could be great playing Arcane, although he is over 50 years old. Also, he sure would be happy to play a crazy scientist and occultist.

@Repian - He'd be great. I'd like to see him as Cain too (of Cain and Abel). He has the exact look now.

Swamp Thing is one of those characters that has always flown under my radar. Anyone have any suggestions on some good story arcs to check out, or specific writers/artists?

@loganelliott - Everyone will tell you the Alan Moore run. Pure poetry in my opinion.

But I really dug the Scott snyder/Charles Soule run from the New 52.

@JeighJeigh - Awesome, thanks. I basically read all of New52, Cant believe I missed it!

@loganelliott -

I probably would have missed it too, but I saw Scott Snyder was the writer, so of course I had to give a shot. Did not disappoint. You might have to read some Animal Man because they crossover.

@JeighJeigh - Im really kicking myself because I love Scott Snyder, American Vampire is still one of my all time favourite reads. Thanks! Can not wait to check it out.

As a huge DC fan, I have been sorely disappointed with many of the decisions the Executives at WB have made. It’s soured many to the DCEU, and caused all sorts of setbacks and course corrections. It’s just terrible.

What DC needs to do is follow in Marvels footsteps, in that they need their own film studio. Let WB make everything else under the sun, but DC’s got a vault of characters with long and rich histories that they can mine from here to infinity.

The head controls the body. Until things change at the top, it’s very unlikely to get substantial change at the bottom. If you want a better product, you have to change how it’s being made. Only once decisions stop being made solely based on money, will we get to a place where by creating a quality movie, and shared universe, money will flow in.

Why hasn’t WB seen Alex Garlands reddit post and hired him yet???

Is it gonna be connected to the DCEU?

@Zoinkberg - Probably not. They've yet to do any TV or web series connected to that mess.

This isn't really news. They released character bios weeks ago which mentioned Matthew. Also Anton being the main villain is kind of expected. To not have him as the main villain would be like doing a Superman TV show with no Lex Luthor.

I’m glad they are including Matthew (Pre-Raven form) but this isn’t actually news… The descriptions of the characters released weeks ago mentioned Matthew as Abby’s ex.

My question is are they going to cover his death and transformation into the raven servant of the Lord of Dreams? Because if they were daring enough to actually do that, I would be all for it.
