Earlier today, we found out that cameras had stopped rolling on Swamp Thing prematurely, and the show will only air 10 of its originally scheduled 13 episodes. Perhaps as a response to this news getting out, DC Universe has released the first teaser.

It's very brief, but right at the end we do get a quick glimpse of the Earth Elemental as he rises from the water, and he looks like he's stepped right out of the pages of the comics.

Today's report also suggested that the future of DC Universe was in doubt, but we're hearing that the streaming service is doing just fine and has no intention of folding.

Swamp Thing is being developed as a one-hour show, and has Mark Verheiden (Battlestar Galactica) and Gary Dauberman (It) on board to write the pilot. They'll also executive produce alongside Michael Clear and James Wan. Len Wiseman will helm the first episode.

Swamp Thing is set to premiere on May 31st.

Has anybody ever seen the 1982 Wes Craven movie. If so, how is it?

@MasterMix - Cult classic. Adrianne Barbeau's knockers, Swampy growing an arm. Pig Man.

@MasterMix - It's bad, but like the trash heap of comic/video game to movie productions from the 80s and 90s it's bad in a way that's amusing as hell to watch.

@Dotanuki - you touched on all the important parts. Except the mutant midget man.

@MasterMix - Does this have anything to do w/ the show on USA I watched as a kid? Or am I completely bonkers. I remember something from way back when. Maybe it was a movie? I thought it was a show. Either way, I remember loving it. But come to think of it, that was the 80s and Problem Child 2 was one of my favorite movies!

@deathlok1982 - Not including this new series, Swamp Thing has been adapted to live-action 3 times before. The 1982 Wes Craven movie, the 1989 sequel The Return of Swamp Thing, and the 1990 USA TV series like you mentioned.

P.S. I know what you mean. Wild Wild West was my favorite movie when I was a kid. ;)

Oh man, that looks so good! Also, the issues with Swamp Thing are less about the service and more about creative differences between the showrunner and whoever is in charge of content on the service.

None of this affects production of any of the other shows.
