'Mulder' & 'Scully' Are Back On The Case In First Footage From THE X-FILES Revival

Fox has released a promo for their upcoming 201 Days of The X-Files episode-a-day viewing of the previous seasons, and right at the end they debut our first official footage from the new miniseries.

“I think of it as a 13-year commercial break,” said series creator Chris Carter. “The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories.” “We had the privilege of working with Chris on all nine seasons of The X-Files – one of the most rewarding creative experiences of our careers – and we couldn’t be more excited to explore that incredible world with him again,” added Dana Walden and Gary Newman, Chairmen and CEOs of Fox Television Group. “The X-Files was not only a seminal show for both the studio and the network, it was a worldwide phenomenon that shaped pop culture – yet remained a true gem for the legions of fans who embraced it from the beginning. Few shows on television have drawn such dedicated fans as The X-Files, and we’re ecstatic to give them the next thrilling chapter of Mulder and Scully they’ve been waiting for.”

The X-Files originally ran from 1993-2002, and would have to be considered one of the most popular TV shows of all time. Before the 6 brand new episodes, creator Chris Carter will bring his cast (and hopefully some footage) to San Diego Comic Con next week

Oh man. Gillian <3

I really need to start THE FALL. Heard she's great, same with Mr. Fifty Shades of Grey, Jamie Dornan.

"X-Files" is a really entertaining show (until the last 2 seasons anyway) but I hope this new season offers more than simply nostalgic memory-lane.

Because we're at a point when TV is pushing boundaries when it comes to storytelling, Chris Carter and crew must have come up with something NEW for Fox to greenlight another season for the show.

Too bad the last episode of the tv show was a mess. Supposedly the aliens were gonna arrive in 2012. They punted on wrapping up the mythology b/c they thought they'd have a long movie run. Tell the best story you can instead of presuming you'll get another chance down the road.

Looking forward to the new series. The X Files is the greatest sci-fi series ever IMO. I hope they can keep up the standard of the earlier seasons.

Reasonnnn - The Fall is excellent. Seriously gritty stuff.

Is it possible to only watch the "ongoing mythology" episodes? I would like to skip the monster of the week stuff and go right into the new season when it starts but I don't want to be lost.

It's definitely possible, but you'd be restricting yourself to the weakest, most frustrating episodes of the series and missing out on the all the good stuff that made us fans put up with the mythology bullshit in the first place.

Anyway, if Carter and company do their job well, people should be able to follow the new miniseries without much knowledge of the show. Of course, that's a big if. Chris Carter has never told a satisfyingly complete story in his career and I'll be flabbergasted if he does now.

(Yes, I was a massive X-Files fan. That's why I'm not getting my hopes up.)

I loved this series as a kid but obviously I wasn't as invested, so now seems to be a great time to start re-watching it on Netflix.
