AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR & GAME OF THRONES Actor Peter Dinklage To Star In TOXIC AVENGER Reboot

It's been a while since we had any solid updates on this one, but it's now being reported that Legendary's planned reboot of Troma classic Toxic Avenger has enlisted Peter Dinklage to play Toxie...

We found out back in 2018 that Toxie was set to get a new lease of life at Legendary Pictures when the studio acquired the rights to Troma's mutated cult hero. Now, we know who'll pick up the mop and make it his mission to strike fear into New Jersey's criminal underbelly as the Toxic Avenger.

According to Deadline, Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones, Avengers: Endgame) has signed on to play the hideous, but loveable vigilante in the upcoming reboot.

The Toxic Avenger was first introduced in the 1984 movie of the same name from indie studio Troma Entertainment, and has since gone on to achieve cult status with several sequels, a comic book series and even a children's animated show called The Toxic Crusaders.

It sounds like this contemporary take will follow the same basic premise as the original, as "a struggling everyman is pushed into a vat of toxic waste and is transformed into a mutant freak who must go from shunned outcast to underdog hero as he races to save his son, his friends, and his community from the forces of corruption and greed."

The first film's directors Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz are on board as producers. Macon Blair (I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore) is set to direct.

Sure, why not?

Unrelated good news for a change: https://movieweb.com/the-batman-production-finished/

So, maybe we'll get to actually see this in theatres before 2030. 😉

@Feralwookiee - what’s your thoughts on the chances they move it back up to October if the vaccine is in full fleet and things have opened up by summer?

Umm, I'm hoping Dinklage will only be playing pre-transformation Toxie and maybe voice as well. He has to turn into a giant beast of a hero after being exposed, but I like the idea of updating the concept away from "scrawny, pimply nerd with glasses" cliche.

Guessing he will be him when he is human and maybe voice the Avenger, unless they are going to keep the avenger, Dinklage's normal size. If they do, could possibly work I guess.

Never saw the original film.

David Gordon Green would also be a great candidate to direct a movie like Toxic Avengers. After directing such different films as Pineapple Express, Joe and Halloween, I think Gordon Green can handle this.

"Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones, Avengers: Endgame)"

He was in Infinity War, not Endgame.
