While early in its run HBO’s Game of Thrones used inventive ways to cut around the large battle scenes depicted in George RR Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire novels, now however with the show having the same budget an episode that it used to have a season, they can realize these events in all their glory.

The currently in-production eighth and final season of the television phenomenon is a perfect example of this, as it's been revealed that the crew has just wrapped filming a battle sequence that took them 55 consecutive nights!

To celebrate the endeavor and commemorate the crew's hard work, assistant director Jonathan Quinlan posted a note from Game of Thrones' 'producer types' thanking everyone for enduring the adverse conditions before adding himself; “Says it all. 55 consecutive nights. 11 weeks. 3 locations. You’ll never again see anything like it."

The 55-night shoot more than doubles the shows previous record for a battle sequence and is sure to be a sight to behold when the series returns for its 6 episode final run, sometime in that latter half of 2019. Let's just hope that none of our favorite characters meet their end in the massive conflict.

What do you think? Are you excited for the final season of Game of Thrones? What would you like to see most when the show returns? Leave your thoughts below.
