GAME OF THRONES Season 8: First Look At Jon Snow And Daenerys Targaryen On New EW Cover

When Game of Thrones returns to HBO next year, it will be for its eighth and final season. Now, Entertainment Weekly has revealed its latest cover and the spotlight is put firmly on Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke).

As you can see, the lovers are clearly still up north and are sharing an embrace which makes it clear that they're Westeros' new power couple. "It’s relentless; scenes that would have been a one-day shoot five years ago are now a five-day shoot," Harington says. "They want to get it right, they want to shoot everything every single way so they have options."

It's hard to say how much longer this dynamic will last between them, of course, especially as Dany's feelings may quickly change when she realises that Jon has a right to the Iron Throne.

"It’s about all of these disparate characters coming together to face a common enemy, dealing with their own past, and defining the person they want to be in the face of certain death," co-executive producer Bryan Cogman says. "It’s an incredibly emotional haunting bittersweet final season and I think it honours very much what [author George R.R. Martin] set out to do — which is flipping this kind of story on its head."

What do you guys think of this first look at Game of Thrones season eight? Sound off down below.

Nothing like getting cozy with your Aunt.

@knighted - did they bring that up in the books? What was the reaction?

@Origame - The show passed the books. In this regard, Jon has never met Dany and Jons heritage has not been confirmed, though fans had mostly figured it out ahead of time and the show confirmed it since.
This is why I'm mixed about all this. I didn't want the show to spoil the books, but here we are. So I'm also exited just to see it on screen at the same time.

@mdwilliamson24 - But what if the books go another way?

@SpookyCipher - I expect some differences for sure, there are already a bunch of changes thus far. But I think the overall finale will end up close to the same in regards to many characters fates.
We'll see....if George ever finishes his end.

@mdwilliamson24 - i knew the book was ahead and i remember george confirmed the theory that they're related. Just didnt know if a book came out saying that.

@Origame - I'm convinced we aren't getting any more books.

@Battabing - dont know about that. With martin getting royalties off the show it makes sense he'd slow down on writing it. But now that its ending he's probably gonna want to get something out there.

@Origame - Nope. He's busy working on The Long Night spin-off of Games for HBO.

This is awesome!!

I do wonder what Jon's reaction will be once he finds out Daenerys is his aunt. I know the Targs are cool with incest so it probably won't bother Danereys, but Jon is all about honor and I don't see a way that he'll be ok with it.

Marvel just picked up the WW1984 screenwriter to pen an untitled screenplay.

@regularmovieguy - Could be anything. There are always lots of projects in development at Marvel, not all of them will be greenlit.

Dany: You have a claim to-

Jon: No.

Dany: But they said-

Jon: NO! I'll die before I sit on that ****ING throne.

...

Last shot of GOT, Dany's dead, Jon is on the throne and he is already hating every second of it.

@UltimaRex - I could see that, plus I don't think Jon will die AGAIN (what is dead may never die and so on...)

If you recall, when the witch in the forest spoke to the young Cersei. She said this to her:

“You will never wed the Prince, you will wed the King…You’ll be Queen, for a time. Then comes another — younger, more beautiful — to cast you down and take all you hold dear…The King will have 20 children, and you will have three…Gold will be their crowns, gold their shrouds.”

Because of this, I believe that Jon and Dany will marry and bear children.
