Fresh off HBO programming president Michael Lombardo revealing that HBO's hit fantasy series Game Of Thrones will run for at least eight seasons, Entertainment Weekly is now reporting that the show has added a more than familiar face for the upcoming sixth season.

EW reports that Golden Globe-winner Ian McShane (John Wick) has been cast in a mystery role in a season already shrouded by mysteries. At the moment, details on the role are scarce, but it has been described as one of the utmost importance, although McShane will only occupy the screen for a relatively small amount of time.

McShane is probably best known for his work on HBO's Deadwood, but he has more recently appeared in John WickHercules, and Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

What do you guys think of McShane's casting? Who do you think he may be portraying? Sound off with your thoughts below!

Summers span decades. Winters can last a lifetime. And the struggle for the Iron Throne continues.

It stretches from the south, where heat breeds plots, lusts and intrigues, to the vast and savage eastern lands, where a young queen raises an army. All the while, in the frozen north, an 800-foot wall of ice precariously protects the war-ravaged kingdom from the dark forces that lie beyond. Kings and queens, knights and renegades, liars, lords and honest men...all play the 'Game of Thrones.'

An original series based on George R.R. Martin's best-selling 'A Song of Ice and Fire' series.
