HOUSE OF THE DRAGON: Alicent Makes A Fateful Move In The New Preview For Episode 9; "The Green Council"

With only two episodes left, we're swiftly approaching the Dance of the Dragons and next week's installment will finally see Alicent make a move that will have devastating consequences for House Targaryen.

"Have you ever imagined yourself on the Iron Throne?"

With King Viserys (Paddy Considine) finally succumbing to his decades-long illness, the Dance of the Dragons is nearly here and it looks like next week's installment will finally have Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke) make the fateful decision that will ultimately kickstart the long-awaited Targaryen Civil War and essentially damn every party involved.

As the promo reveals, we'll see Alicent make an executive decision - with her father Otto (Rhys Ifans) and Criston Cole's (Fabien Frankel) blessing - to place her eldest son Aegon II (Tom Glynn-Carney) on the Iron Throne, under the questionable belief that it was Viserys last wish. She'll also be moving quickly, as she attempts to give him the crown before word reaches Dragonstone.

No major spoilers here on what will happen in the immediate aftermath, but it's safe to say that Rhaenyra (Emma D'Arcy) and Daemon (Matt Smith), are going to be less than thrilled when they learn of the treacherous decision. So, gear up everyone, it's time for war!

Check out the new preview for episode nine, titled "The Green Council," below:

Season One features Paddy Considine, Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Fabien Frankel, Sonoya Mizuno, and Rhys Ifans, with Milly Alcock, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Emily Carey, Harry Collett, Ryan Corr, Tom Glynn-Carney, Jefferson Hall, David Horovitch, Wil Johnson, John Macmillan, Graham McTavish, Ewan Mitchell, Theo Nate, Matthew Needham, Bill Paterson, Phia Saban, Gavin Spokes, and Savannah Steyn.

Based on George R.R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood,” the series, set 200 years before the events of “Game of Thrones,” tells the story of House Targaryen.
