Production officially kicked-off on House of The Dragon earlier this week, with HBO sharing some behind-the-scenes images from the first table read. Now, with principal photography officially underway, the first set photos have found their way online.
The snaps show main cast members Emma D’Arcy and Matt Smith filming a scene on a beach in full costume and sporting the unmistakable silver locks of their Targaryen characters. Smith plays Daemon Targaryen, while D'Arcy portrays his wife (and niece... yes, we're back in Westeros) Rhaenyra Targaryen.
Check out the photos along with a set video below.
It was recently announced that Fabien Frankel, Rhys Ifans, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best and Sonoya Mizuno have joined the cast as Ser Criston Cole, Otto Hightower, Lord Corlys Velaryon, Princess Rhaenys Velaryon and Mysaria, respectively.
They join Paddy Considine (Dead Man's Shoes, The World's End) in the lead role of King Viserys Targaryen, and Olivia Cooke (Ready Player One) as Alicent Hightower.
House of the Dragon is being developed as a 10-episode first season, co-created by George R.R. Martin and Ryan Condal (Colony). Condal also wrote the script with Sara Lee Hess, and will serve as co-showrunner alongside Miguel Sapochnik. The latter will direct the pilot and additional episodes.
House of the Dragon is set for a 2022 premiere.
