DAREDEVIL And The Rest Of THE DEFENDERS May End Up Being Rebooted By Marvel Studios
While fans are hopeful that Marvel's Netflix heroes could live on elsewhere, an industry expert believes that Marvel Studios will ultimately reboot characters like Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist...
It's been a tough few days for Marvel fans. Netflix cancelled Daredevil after three seasons (just weeks after axing Iron Fist and Luke Cage) and while Marvel TV has promised that the Man Without Fear will live on, it's hard to imagine where that could happen unless it's on ABC or Hulu.
There's been a lot of speculation that these Marvel shows could wind up on the Disney+ streaming service but Rolling Stone's Alan Sepinwall has possibly shed some light on what comes next and while this should be treated strictly as a rumour, his insight is worth taking note of and it's easy enough to imagine what he describes playing out somewhere down the line.
"The Marvel shows for Disney+ are being produced by Marvel movie execs, who do not like or get along with the Marvel TV execs who made [Daredevil] et al," he explains. "Technically, they COULD make a Luke Cage show a few years down the line. They just don’t want to."
"And if they did, they’d be starting over from scratch creatively, like Sony ditching the Andrew Garfield movies for Tom Holland as Spider-Man," the critic concluded.
With such a divide existing between the film and TV divisions of Marvel, it's clear that there won't be any sort of collaboration between the two with these characters, so we're either going to see Charlie Cox's Daredevil appear on a different platform at some point or Marvel Studios reboot a number of years from now (hopefully alongside the Inhumans).
