Shortly after Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 premiered on Disney+, Charlie Cox revealed that a stunt which "terrified" him had been cut from the episode's action-packed opening.
"I do have one gripe," he told episodes 1 and 2 directors Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson on the Daredevil: Born Again Official Podcast. "The amount of hours I spent learning that discipline with the dummy. That did not make it into our show very much. It did a little. But relatively, the amount of time I spent learning it. Not enough."
"I also seem to remember that I very bravely threw myself off a 20-foot scaffolding headfirst backwards," he continued, referring to that death-defying stunt. "That is also not in the show." Cox later joked, "I need the audience appreciation, otherwise it counts for nothing."
Well, footage of the deleted opening has now been released, and the actor wasn't lying when he said he threw himself backwards in a comic-accurate pose (this feels very Alex Maleev-inspired). The fact that Cox did this himself only makes it more impressive.
In Daredevil: Born Again Season 3, Matt Murdock will spend a lot of time behind bars after being imprisoned at the end of Season 2. However, despite successfully exiling Wilson Fisk from New York, the Kingpin will remain a threat to the Man Without Fear.
"In season 3, he [Matt] has new complications and issues, but with the news that Fisk may or may not be returning comes all of those old feelings, all of that rage, all of that hatred […] mixed with just a sense of an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object," Cox teased while appearing on Good Morning America.
Many fans feel it's time to move on from Fisk, and with Daredevil: Born Again coming to an end with Season 3, the stage will potentially be set to do something new with the character moving forward.
Daredevil: Born Again Season 3's cast includes Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Wilson Bethel as Bullseye, Nikki M. James as Kirsten McDuffie, Margarita Levieva as Heather Glenn, Clark Johnson as Cherry, and Matthew Lillard as Mr. Charles.
Krysten Ritter, meanwhile, will return as Jessica Jones, alongside Mike Colter as Luke Cage, Finn Jones as Danny Rand/Iron Fist, and Elodie Yung as Elektra Natchios.
The series is expected to return to Disney+ next March.
