During Marvel Television's panel at New York Comic Con yesterday afternoon, it was confirmed that Daredevil: Born Again will end with Season 3. The news was met with resounding boos, but the decision has been made, and the series will end next Spring.
Now, Charlie Cox has broken his silence on Marvel Studios' decision to end Daredevil: Born Again. The actor appears to have no hard feelings about the show's conclusion, and crucially, seems to believe this isn't the final time he'll wield the Man Without Fear's Billy Clubs.
In an interview with ScreenRant, Cox was asked directly whether Season 3 is the end of the road for Matt Murdock. While he stopped short of confirming his eventual MCU return, he seems confident that something will follow.
"Do I think we have seen Matt for the last time? I honestly don't know, I'd hate to speculate, but I don't think so," the actor mused. "I think there will be something, [it] might not be for a long time, but there are [ways] I think he will show up somehow, somewhere."
In a separate conversation with IGN, Cox said the return of the Defenders brings their story "full circle" and offers "some kind of closure."
Pushed on his Daredevil future, he once again hedged his bets. "Don't know, man. I don't know," he told the site. "I mean, it might be. It might be. Don't worry about Kevin [Feige]. Get the Save Daredevil campaign on the horn. Get them motivated. That engine, that won't stop until there's some resolution. That's my true superpower -- is the Save Daredevil campaign!"
As you'll see in the video below, Entertainment Weekly also caught a few moments with Cox, though he largely focused on his gratitude for the fans and the fact that Daredevil was resurrected for three seasons of Daredevil: Born Again (something he never expected would happen).
With Avengers: Secret Wars and Spider-Man 5 on the horizon, Marvel Studios will surely find a place for Cox's Daredevil in one or both of them.
Daredevil: Born Again Season 3's cast includes Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Wilson Bethel as Bullseye, Nikki M. James as Kirsten McDuffie, Margarita Levieva as Heather Glenn, Clark Johnson as Cherry, and Matthew Lillard as Mr. Charles.
Krysten Ritter, meanwhile, will return as Jessica Jones, alongside Mike Colter as Luke Cage, Finn Jones as Danny Rand/Iron Fist, and Elodie Yung as Elektra Natchios.
The series is expected to return to Disney+ next March.
