Charlie Cox made his long-awaited return as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home, before introducing us to a very different take on Daredevil in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. It was generally assumed that the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again Disney+ series would give us a slightly darker incarnation of The Man Without Fear more akin to the tone of the Netflix show, but based on new comments from Cox, that might not be the case.
During an appearance at German Comic-Con Winter Edition, Cox revealed that Deadpool 3 is the Marvel Studios project he'd most like to be a part of, and believes "there's a place" for the Hell's Kitchen vigilante in the MCU threequel.
"I think because of the tone of our show, I think that there’s a place for Daredevil to show up in Deadpool. It would be really cool."
Does this mean Born Again will be more light-hearted than we've been led to believe, or is Cox implying that it's going to be more violent than we're expecting? Either or both could apply! The previous Deadpool movies are, at their core, black comedies, but they can also be fairly dark in their own way, and don't shy away from depicting some pretty brutal and gruesome carnage.
Is there a chance Daredevil could actually appear? With a completed script, it seems highly unlikely, but if Ryan Reynolds and co. get wind of Cox's comments, who knows what strings could be pulled to accommodate him?
