After playing the character over three seasons of the now defunct Netflix Daredevil series, Vincent D'Onofrio returned as Wilson Fisk, aka The Kingpin, for Hawkeye, and will reprise the role for another face-off with Charlie Cox's Man Without Fear in Daredevil: Born Again.
We had heard that cameras were set to start rolling on the Disney+ show this week, but D'Onofrio has now provided a production update while responding to a fan on Twitter.
The Full Metal Jacket star said that while they are "definitely in deep glorious prep," they're "not quite shooting yet."
In a follow-up Tweet, he reiterated that Born Again is going to be "very different" to the Netflix series, adding that he believes it's "going to surprise everyone."
Plot details are still under wraps, but the show is expected to be at least partially inspired by the Born Again comic - although Cox did recently confirm that it will be far from a direct adaptation (which isn't too surprising given how dark that story gets).
The 18-episode series, which is being written and executive produced by Matt Corman and Chris Ord, will also star The Many Saints of Newark actor Michael Gandolfini, Colin Woodell (The Purge), and Nikki M. James (The Book of Mormon) in undisclosed roles.
Margarita Levieva (The Deuce) and Sandrine Holt (American Gigolo) are set to play "major roles" (likely the leads' love interests). Alaqua Cox is also expected to appear as Echo, but that's yet to be confirmed.
No official premiere date has been announced, but based on what we've heard, Fall 2024 seems likely.
