LUTHER Director Farren Blackburn Confirms That He Will Helm DAREDEVIL Episode

Farren Blackburn has helmed a number of TV episodes for the BBC, including well-known shows like Doctor Who, Luther and The Fades. Well, the director has now taken to Twitter to reveal that his next project will be an episode of Daredevil for Marvel and Netflix.

With Drew Goddard busy with the movie pretty much nobody wants to see (that's The Amazing Spider-Man 2 spin-off Sinister Six in case you missed the news), Marvel hired Steven S. DeKnight as Daredevil's new showrunner and are obviously on the hunt for anyway for directors to tackle various instalments of the 13-episode Netflix series. While we don't know which episode it will be, British director Farren Blackburn has confirmed that he will be working on at least one episode of the drama which stars Charlie Cox, Vincent D'Onofrio and Rosario Dawson.

For those of you wondering, Blackburn directed the Doctor Who episodes, "The Rings of Akhaten" and "The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe". His Luther contribution were the very impressive final two episodes of season three, and that his work on the Idris Elba led drama alone should serve as proof that he will have no problems adapting to the gritty world of Matt Murdock's Hell's Kitchen.

Love "Luther ." Never watched "Dr. Who," so I guess this is good news.

Yeah Luther is good, and very dark. I wouldn't mind if the tone of Daredevil were similar to the one of Luther.

Those Doctor Who episodes were terrible... That said, they were pretty nice visually, and Luther's great.

Hmmm...interesting

Luther is pretty dark tone at times, so that would be perfect for Daredevil show

I'm halfway thru Luther and I'm loving it. I know the daredevil series will be off the chain. Just waiting on the iron fist and Luke cage castings. I'm thinking Ryan gosling for iron fist.

@Dio. LMAO! Less teeth next time please.

And I have come to the realization, that if you constantly adjust your story over a long period of time, something that you once thought was a great idea, turns out to be garbage. So.....I guess slowly would be my answer to that. Lol

Marvel has me foaming at the mouth for this Daredevil series.

Drew Goddard writes fantastic genre fare.
Steven DeKnight's work on Spartacus had some of the best fight scenes on TV.
I've heard great things about Charlie Cox, and an actor who most people won't know works so well for Murdock.
We won't be looking at the actor, but at the character (One of the biggest downfalls of the film was Affleck's celeb persona... not so good script/acting etc aside).
Rosario Dawson will be fantastic in whatever role she is in.
We likely won't get Elektra in the first season, meaning we get that much more time for Matt to establish himself. Elektra is fantastic, but she's such a rich character to do her justice might of been at the cost of the best Daredevil.

And also Luther is one of those great BBC shows that have the perfect balance of true crime/hard boiled/noir without being camp.

Oh HELL YES! Luther is a [frick]ing fantastic show. Idris Elba is one of my favorite actors. Just finished the third season on Netflix, damn shit was intense. I like his directing style and his input on Daredevil will be a great addition.
