Shocking New Details Emerge About The Recent Cancelation Of DAREDEVIL On Netflix

Fans were left reeling by Netflix's decision to cancel Daredevil, but now some new details have emerged and the blame may not actually lie with the online streaming service. Find out more right here...

Following the cancellations of Iron Fist and Luke Cage, Daredevil was next on the chopping block despite a stellar third season. Jessica Jones and The Punisher are expected to be next - once their respective third and second seasons are streamed - but some very interesting new intel has been revealed by Deadline today.

Before the plug was pulled on the Man Without Fear's solo series, it's said that the show was one of the most in-demand properties on the streaming platform. Only Narcos, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and Stranger Things were in front of Daredevil, a sign that the Marvel Comics adaptation was performing much better than the other cancelled shows set in the MCU.

So, why would Netflix axe it?

Well, here's an interesting piece of intel. According to Collider's Steven Weintraub, Marvel decided to cancel Daredevil! That could be because of the Disney+ streaming service or the company wanting to take the hero elsewhere, but this definitely wasn't expected.

I mean it makes no sense for Netflix to cancel a series that had over 50 million views in 1 week. All season 1, except defenders had 50 million views+. I never doubted that Marvel wasn't behind the cancellation.

@mastakilla39 - it makes perfect sense... it daredevil is that popular he has to move to the Disney streaming platform to help people move to that service. i would expect it to be streaming on that right away... but we will see

@mastakilla39 - Yet Netflix, not Disney, hid Daredevil Season 3 when it came out from those who were amongst their key demographic. I have re-watched the other 2 Daredevil seasons a few times, watched all the other Marvel shows (mostly once through) & re-watched MCU movies there, but I never had a trailer nor notice come up before DD season 3 came out. And then upon release, there was no instant start promo, nor was it even in any of my recommendations or My List. I could only find it by searching!! This seems to have happened to several people here, and people I know in the real world. So it sure seems they attempted to sabotage this show. Many people likely didn't know another season had come out. Ridiculous!

@DetectiveSnosbot - Wrong, that's Netflix's marketing for all their releases. Netflix is well-known for not marketing any of their content. Their main goal is acquisition so customers dont have to wait too long for new content. New films and TV shows aren't on the main page until it starts "trending" (getting a lot of views). You have to manually search or click the new release tab for new shows added in less than a week. Netflix's app is well known for their sorting problem that's why many of their great films and shows go under the radar until people discover it.

Stranger Things S1 was like this too, it took critics months/weeks to convince viewers to start watching it because Netflix was unwilling to spend any capital to market it.

Bs only netflix has the power to cancel its originals, no one else.

The writers were gearing up for season 4. Marvel employs the writing teak. This was 100% netflixs call.

i love marvel lgreat but the fox and this streaming service have me squinting on those darker character that can't be painted in the aspect of normal marvel films ..... if the streaming service has a marvel after dark or something like that , this would put my mind at easy......

not including matt almost revives tony with his bed room antics and netflix didn't even touch upon that in the 3 season run :/

@knocturnalzen10 - Why do you think Disney purchased FOX?
knocturnalzen10
knocturnalzen10 - 12/5/2018, 8:57 AM
@FASELI - obvious reasons but are they going to get the best aspects of the characters is the question...... 9/10 we won't see a logan caliber film in movies or streaming service.....

but i'm hoping i'm wrong

@knocturnalzen10 - They purchased them for their massive back catalogue of mature and classic IP. They didn't pay all that money for all that content to just shelve it and only use the X-Men and the Fantastic 4. They were just a bonus.

@ImmovableForce - of course it's preference but the story to journey was beautifully done especially the closing sequence for jackman's run

HiTop Films said everything there is to say about this masterpiece of a show in this video. It's a disservice to the character cancelling this iteration of Daredevil and his world.

@RageDriver2401 - DD is my fave hero and I've and this show is the ultimate love letter to Miller, Brubaker and Bendis. Would've loved to see what runs the following seasons would have honored.

@DnA - Ironically, I had started re-watching season 1 the day before they announced the cancellation. Now every episode or so there's either a great scene that I look at and can't believe they cancelled this show. This was easily among the best TV shows out there, let alone a superhero show. There's shows like Arrow and Flash that have had some really pathetic seasons and they're still running on 7/5 seasons, and this masterpiece gets cancelled.

I refuse to believe this show wasn't making them enough money. The timing of all these shows getting cancelled and Disney's own streaming service being in the work makes it abundantly clear what happened.

@BlackBeltJones - I’m so mad we were about to get Waid’s run in season 4. Waid’s run was the first Daredevil run I read & I loved Matt trying to be happy
GhostDog

@LEVITIKUZ - waid run may be my favorite run. It was the first run I read where I loved EVERY SINGLE BIT OF IT. Nothing I disliked about it. Loved other runs but always had nitpicks. None here.

Happy Matt fighting through depression. Matt being a thrillseeker. McDuffie and Matt's relationship is something I want to see in live action.

Season 4 was for sure going to be Waid. Shame.
