Recently, you may have seen a Japanese promo image for Marvel Studios listing their massive 2022 slate. The big news was that Secret Invasion and What If...? season 2 were among the titles we already knew about, leading to speculation online that both shows would arrive on Disney+ later this year.
It seemed a little unlikely when Moon Knight doesn't drop until March 30, and that same slate has now been updated to remove both shows. Common sense now says they'll drop in 2023.
There's no need to panic, though, as this year still looks set to be a busy one for the MCU. On the theatrical side, we have Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (May 6), Thor: Love and Thunder (July 8), and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (November 11), three massive blockbusters that all stand a chance of being game-changers in terms of the stories and characters they introduce.
On streaming, we know when Moon Knight will premiere, but She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel, and I Am Groot, while all undated, are expected to be with us before the year is over. That Halloween special (believed to be Werewolf-by-Night) may or may not arrive in time for 2022's spooky season, while The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is another possibility for this Christmas.
Between this and a solid slate of DC Extended Universe movies and projects, 2022 definitely looks set to make up for a relatively quiet couple of years thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Which of these big and small screen MCU adventures are you most excited for?
