LEGION: David Haller Knows What He Has To Do In The New Promo For The Season 2 Finale: "Chapter 19"

Well, after the events of last night's chapter, things are really not looking good for David. Now, in next week's Legion season finale, he'll be forced to make a decision that could change everything...

As we head into next week's season finale, the situation couldn't be any worse for David (Dan Stevens) as the plan he's meticulously built all season blew up in his face and the Shadow King (Navid Negahban) achieved exactly what he's wanted - and also recovered his own body, which can't be good news for anyone.

Meanwhile, the episode also featured one very cool X-Men callback as we saw an alternate reality David sport his classic comic look with the hair standing straight up and everything. It remains to be seen, however, if that dark reality will materialize in the prime timeline.

Watch the new promo for the season two finale, titled "Chapter 19," below:

Chapter 19

210 6/12/2018 10 PM ET/PT

In which David fights the future.

Written by Noah Hawley; directed by Keith Gordon

Legion, based on the Marvel Comics by Chris Claremont and Bill Sienkiewicz, is the story of David Haller (Dan Stevens) – a troubled young man who may be more than human.

Diagnosed as schizophrenic as a child, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. Now in his early 30s and institutionalized once again, David loses himself in the rhythm of the structured regimen of life in the hospital: breakfast, lunch, dinner, therapy, medications, sleep. David spends the rest of his time in companionable silence alongside his chatterbox friend Lenny (Aubrey Plaza), a fellow patient whose life-long drug and alcohol addiction has done nothing to quell her boundless optimism that her luck is about to change. The pleasant numbness of David’s routine is completely upended with the arrival of a beautiful and troubled new patient named Syd (Rachel Keller). Inexplicably drawn to one another, David and Syd share a startling encounter, after which he must confront the shocking possibility that the voices he hears and the visions he sees are the result of him being a mutant.

A haunted man, David escapes from the hospital and seeks shelter with his sister Amy (Katie Aselton). But Amy’s concern for her brother is trumped by her desire to protect the picture perfect suburban life she’s built for herself. Eventually, Syd guides David to Melanie Bird (Jean Smart), a nurturing but demanding therapist with a sharp mind and unconventional methods. She and her team of specialists – Ptonomy (Jeremie Harris), Kerry (Amber Midthunder) and Cary (Bill Irwin) – open David’s eyes to an extraordinary new world of possibilities.

Legion features:
Dan Stevens as David Haller
Rachel Keller as Sydney "Syd" Barrett
Aubrey Plaza as Lenny Busker
Jean Smart as Melanie Bird
Bill Irwin as Cary Loudermilk
Jeremie Harris as Ptonomy Wallace
Amber Midthunder as Kerry Loudermilk
Katie Aselton as Amy Haller
Jean Smart as Melanie Bird
Jemaine Clement as Oliver Bird

Navid Negahban as Amahl Farouk/Shadow King

Pretty good episode. But the trippy-ness is starting to get to me.

@tugboy - I've come to the conclusion that this show is made only for people that do drugs.

@HeavyMetal4Life - I enjoyed the show style during season 1. But now it is just getting a bit annoying. At the end of each episode, I find myself rehashing what happened, and for each episode there are usually only 2-3 plot points that occur during that crazy method of storytelling. This season I find myself saying "so they did all that weird stuff just to portray these few plot points?' It's starting to wear on me.

Literally my reaction watching the last episode:

The craftmanship behind Legion is truly amazing...AMAZING.
They were building toward this moment and they delivered!
Shit's about the get real, i'm so glad we're getting a S3, cause i bet it will be VERY different from S1 and S2, and also quite special.
I don't know what will happen in the last episode, but we might as well have a villain as the main character of the show now.
Just look at that opening:

Straight outta the comicbook pages! :D

Best episode of the season. That slo mo fight was somewhat cringe but I'm excited for the finale!

Is the decision he's forced to make NOT killing Shadow King? Because if he kills Shadow King then the future proceeds as it was already going to and that means it would likely change nothing.

@ScionStorm - Yes.. I think that's what it'll be. The decision will be to show mercy and not destroy Farouq. Whether he actually does that is the question. Knowing this show, it'll take the least predictable route possible.

So glad that Noah Hawley finally threw a homage to the acclaimed comic book run ("X-Men Legacy", by Si Spurrier) that also inspired him ;-)
