The end of the world is coming and it doesn't look like David Haller (Dan Stevens) has much time left to stop it. Next week's hour looks quite bonkers as Oliver Bird (Jemaine Clement) issue a threat to our mutant hero while also getting some seriously ominous vibes from an incarcerated Lenny (Aubrey Plaza).

Watch the new promo for "Chapter 13" below:

Chapter 13

5/1/2018

An uneasy reunion leads to a shocking truth. Written by Noah Hawley & Nathaniel Halpern; directed by Tim Mielants.

Legion, based on the Marvel Comics by Chris Claremont and Bill Sienkiewicz, is the story of David Haller (Dan Stevens) – a troubled young man who may be more than human.

Diagnosed as schizophrenic as a child, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. Now in his early 30s and institutionalized once again, David loses himself in the rhythm of the structured regimen of life in the hospital: breakfast, lunch, dinner, therapy, medications, sleep. David spends the rest of his time in companionable silence alongside his chatterbox friend Lenny (Aubrey Plaza), a fellow patient whose life-long drug and alcohol addiction has done nothing to quell her boundless optimism that her luck is about to change. The pleasant numbness of David’s routine is completely upended with the arrival of a beautiful and troubled new patient named Syd (Rachel Keller). Inexplicably drawn to one another, David and Syd share a startling encounter, after which he must confront the shocking possibility that the voices he hears and the visions he sees are the result of him being a mutant.

A haunted man, David escapes from the hospital and seeks shelter with his sister Amy (Katie Aselton). But Amy’s concern for her brother is trumped by her desire to protect the picture perfect suburban life she’s built for herself. Eventually, Syd guides David to Melanie Bird (Jean Smart), a nurturing but demanding therapist with a sharp mind and unconventional methods. She and her team of specialists – Ptonomy (Jeremie Harris), Kerry (Amber Midthunder) and Cary (Bill Irwin) – open David’s eyes to an extraordinary new world of possibilities.

Legion features:
Dan Stevens as David Haller
Rachel Keller as Sydney "Syd" Barrett
Aubrey Plaza as Lenny Busker
Jean Smart as Melanie Bird
Bill Irwin as Cary Loudermilk
Jeremie Harris as Ptonomy Wallace
Amber Midthunder as Kerry Loudermilk
Katie Aselton as Amy Haller
Jean Smart as Melanie Bird
Jemaine Clement as Oliver Bird
Jon Hamm as the Narrator
Navid Negahban as Amahl Farouk/Shadow King

this show is honest-to-god making a case for itself as the best comic book adaptation put to the screen. ever. and i mean that with zero hyperbole.

I'm going to have to catch up with this show once I've put a few backlogged series to bed, but I just wanted to say:

Aubrey Plaza for Tigra? Seeing her and Olsen together just makes me long for that West Coast Avengers movie.

@Spock0Clock - i’d say yes if i wasn’t hoping for legion to be worked into the mcu down the line as a launching pad for the mutant corner of the universe.

i mean, think about it. the show can introduce the rebooted xavier (played by john hawkes, preferably)... and that’s it. that’s the only corner of the cinematic universe it ever needs to touch. introduce us to the new xavier, spend some time within before he’s PROFESSOR xavier, and voilà.

@TheRealTomServo - I dunno... I liked season one a lot, but I'm not sure I want that chocolate in my peanut butter.

@Spock0Clock - makes sense. i definitely think that if this happens, it should be in the most minimal way possible.

i wouldn’t even want the show to acknowledge the movies. i’d want the movies to acknowledge the show. maybe have xavier reference his son a few times and have that be it.

@Spock0Clock - honestly, i just want this show to go on and i hope disney doesn’t can it.

@Spock0Clock - so if the only way to keep it around is to make it an mcu thing, so be it.

it does work much better as a standalone thing, though. which is very much how i prefer it.

This is hands down my favorite comic book show. It's a surreal masterpiece, a bizarre and beautifully made head-[frick]. I particularly love Aubrey Plaza in it, she's fantastic.

Worst episode of the season, really made me hate Syd. Only really important scene came at the very end.

@HeavyMetal4Life - i agree, what an awful filler episode. And the whole “point” seemed so contrived and BS... season two has had a lot of great stuff in it so far, but I have to say Ive also really disliked some of the decisions they’ve made (e.g. the dance fight)

@ReverseFlasher - how can you hate the dance fight? that was great.
HeavyMetal4Life
HeavyMetal4Life - 4/25/2018, 6:42 AM
@ReverseFlasher - Yeah, totally agree. Filler episode is the best way to describe it. Finding the point of Syd's scenario over and over and over and over got really old, really fast.

This season so far has been very disappointing after season 1, in my opinion. Yes, I've liked some stuff in the season so far, but I've ended up hating or disliking a majority of the decisions. And I'm finding it difficult to continue watching. I have a feeling I will drop this show after a few more episodes if it doesn't improve. The only good episode of the season, in my opinion, was number 2. Last week's episode had some great stuff as well but was pretty frustrating. They just seem to have gone way off the deep end this season, really embracing the style over substance feel to the show. There's a reason why the ratings for the season so far are so poor among the general public...

They used a Tame Impala song in last ep. I couldn't love this series more.

Hot damn, wish every filler was like this! :P
Shit got weird pretty quick, and the thing is...we already knew about this, Syd said it to David in S1 i think, and i was STILL not prepared.
Syd is f*cked up yo.
