With Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse on its way to converge with massive success -- both commercially and critically, already surpassing the box office success its predecessor had, it is safe to say that the future of Sony's Spider-Man franchise and related projects as such, are on its way in paving a more lucrative future for the studio. And now, they are wasting no time and self-confidence in themsevles to begin production for their next "big hit" standalone film, El Muerto:

"A wrestler gains super power through a mystical mask who originally fought Spider-Man in a charity wrestling match in which he nearly unmasked the webslinger before being stung by Spider-Man with a paralyzing poison." - Fireplus, DeathBattle.Fandom.com

Starring famous Latin rapper Bad Bunny, the movie has been met with inital thoughts as believing the choice to center a movie on a minimally-known Spider-Man villain as obscure, but not less intriguing, as Bad Bunny teases the movie will surely be "epic".

When this film was first announced last year, Sony had been confirmingly eyeing a date in mid January of 2024 for release, but now, thanks to an official update for the films production, fans seem certain that the release date of the movie will ultimately be pushed back.

El Muerto received an updated production date thanks to the Film & Television Industry Alliance (FTIA), stating production is officially set to commence on August 7th of this year, less than 2 months from now in Los Angeles, California.

This change in the filming date unsurprisingly derives from the current ongoing WGA strike, as Marvel Studios had also pushed back their upcoming film dates to later dates in later years.

Although no updates have emerged from this news, it is a best bet to assume El Muerto will not be meeting its January 2024 release date, as from when they will seemingly start filming, to its speculated January 2024 release date, that gives them a 5 month timetable to finish and release the movie.

Again, no further updates have been released.

At this rate, they’re gonna greenlight a movie about Betty Brant fighting toxic masculinity at the bugle.

The movie is for sure getting pushed back.
The article could use another draft to go over everything, it's clunky in places particularly the end.
