As excited as we are to explore the Marvel Cinematic Universe's version of the Multiverse, getting to spend some time with The Watcher also promises to be a highlight in Marvel Studios' What If...?
Played by Jeffrey Wright, fans are already hoping Uatu will make his presence felt in live-action (it certainly wouldn't be outside the realm of possibility, as some Watchers appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2). The actor has teased this a few times now, and it feels like something must be planned for the character in the not too distant future.
Time will tell on that front, but a new poster has been released for What If...? today that focuses on The Watcher and at least some of the realities we'll be visiting in the first nine episodes.
While the caption mentions that Uatu "does not, cannot, will not interfere," comic book fans will know that he does often become involved in events. It's already been confirmed that Captain Carter will interact with him in this and future seasons, so something tells us he won't remain an observer for long.
We were recently part of the global press conference for the Disney+ series, and got to ask director Bryan Andrews and star Jeffrey Wright about working with the late Chadwick Boseman on the episode that sees T'Challa become Star-Lord. Read their lengthy, emotional response here.
