What If...? season 2 is expected to arrive on Disney+ later this year, and this time, we anticipate seeing a number of characters from Phase 4 step into the spotlight in these alternate realities.
Shang-Chi, Red Guardian, and the Eternals are among those confirmed to appear, but some newly revealed merchandise - via Toonado.com - confirms that Marvel Studios has created a brand new character for the show. While this isn't unheard of (fan favourites such as Agent Coulson, Darcy Lewis, and Trevor Slattery didn't originate on the page), it's still a surprise.
As you can see below, this mysterious hero is named Kahhori and appears to be Native American. Sporting traditional face paint and feathers in her hair, she doesn't share a name with anyone from the source material but is clearly a major character if she warrants her own Funko figure.
If the plan is to visit the MCU's past - such as in the all-but-confirmed "Marvel 1602" episode - then it arguably makes sense for that episode's protagonist to be a new character who can be used as the eyes for the audience to see that world's heroes through.
It's possible this character is related to Echo in some way, while many fans are theorising that Kahhori is this world's Valkyrie.
Time will tell on that front, but the response to What If...? was a positive one when it launched in 2021, and while the animation style wasn't for everyone, the show boasted a star-studded cast and put a fun spin on many of the stories we've become incredibly familiar with.
What If...? season 2 is expected to return to Disney+ later this year, though there have been rumblings about it being pushed into 2024.
What do you think about this first look at Kahhori?
