WHAT IF...? Earns Chadwick Boseman Posthumous Emmy Nomination; LOKI, HAWKEYE, And MOON KNIGHT Recognized

The Emmy nominations have been revealed, but how did the Marvel Cinematic Universe fare? While mostly relegated to technical categories, there is some very good news for fans of Disney+'s What If...?

Nearly two years since Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman tragically died following a lengthy battle with cancer, the actor has received a posthumous Emmy nomination for his performance as T'Challa in What If...?

Joining him in the "Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance" category are Moon Knight star F. Murray Abraham (Khonshu) and What If...?'s Jeffrey Wright (The Watcher). Boseman played a T'Challa Variant who became Star-Lord in Peter Quill's place, and reprised the role for the action-packed finale that saw the Guardians of the Multiverse battle Infinity Ultron.

Along with What If...?, Loki, Hawkeye, and Moon Knight were all also eligible.

While What If...? has been nominated for "Outstanding Animated Program," the live-action shows were mostly recognised in technical categories.

Hawkeye picked up nominations for "Best Stunt Coordination" and "Best Stunt Performance." Loki, meanwhile, fared a little better with six nominations for "Best Production Design," "Best Cinematography," "Best Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes," "Best Music Composition," "Best Original Main Title Theme Music," and "Best Sound Editing."

In the lead is Moon Knight with a total of eight nominations. As well as that nod for Abraham, they were for "Best Sound Editing," "Best Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes," "Best Music Composition, "Best Sound Mixing," "Best Stunt Coordination," and "Best Stunt Performance."

It's a shame to see the likes of Hailee Steinfeld, Tom Hiddleston, and Oscar Isaac fail to pick up any nominations, but at least the shows have been recognised in other ways.

We'd love to see Boseman pick up that award, anyway, and What If...? has definitely fared better than anticipated. The 74th Primetime Emmy Awards take place on September 12, later this year.
