Netflix promised Cowboy Bebop fans a special surprise today, and it's now arrived in the form of a teaser video.
The "Lost Seassion" gives us a first look at bounty-hunting heroes Spike Spiegel (John Cho), Jet Black (Mustafa Shakir), and Faye Valentine (Daniella Pineda) in action as they take down some targets... while taking a short break for noodles, of course. Amid the chaotic marial arts and gunplay, we also catch a glimpse of the villainous Vicious (Alex Hassell), a ruthless assassin from Spike's past.
The first trailer won't arrive until next week, but this promo serves as a stylish introduction to the show and its affable leads, while also brilliantly recapturing the vibe of the original anime.
"Cowboy Bebop is an action-packed space Western about three bounty hunters, aka cowboys, all trying to outrun the past. As different as they are deadly, Spike Spiegel (John Cho), Jet Black (Mustafa Shakir), and Faye Valentine (Daniella Pineda) form a scrappy, snarky crew ready to hunt down the solar system’s most dangerous criminals — for the right price. But they can only kick and quip their way out of so many scuffles before their pasts finally catch up with them."
We recently learned that anime composer Yoka Kano, who has worked on the likes of Vision of Escaflowne, Ghost in the Shell: Standalone Complex, Turn A Gundam, Macross Plus, and more, created the soundtrack.
Cowboy Bebop is exec produced and written by Christopher Yost (Thor), who also serves as showrunner along with Andre Nemec, Josh Appelbaum, Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg of Midnight Radio; Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements of Tomorrow Studios; Yasuo Miyakawa, Masayuki Ozaki, and Shin Sasaki of Sunrise Inc. Watanabe is on board as a consultant.
