Deadline is reporting that Blake Lively (A Simple Favor; The Shallows) has signed on to star and produce Lady Killer, an upcoming film adaptation of the Dark Horse Comic series of the same name, for Netflix.
Academy Award-winner Diablo Cody (
Juno;
Young Adult) will write the script, which follows a seemingly ordinary woman named Josie Schuller, who by all appearances, is the perfect 1950’s housewife. But when she’s not catering to the needs of her family, she leads a secret life as a highly-trained killer for hire. She really likes the second job, and her husband has no idea.
Kate Vorhoff will also produce along with Lively, under their B for Effort banner, as will Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg for Dark Horse Entertainment
The Eisner Award-nominated comic book series is written by Joëlle Jones and Jamie S. Rich, featuring illustrations from Jones, and coloring from Laura Allred.
This is the third major Dark Horse project Netflix has developed, following the acclaimed superhero drama The Umbrella Academy and Mads Mikkelsen-starrer Polar. They also recently announced an adaptation of the psychic comic Mystery Girl, which has McG set to direct and will star Tiffany Haddish in the title role.
