Netflix Recruits THE RAID Actor Iko Uwais To Lead The Sci-Fi Martial Arts Series WU ASSASSINS

Netflix's martial arts series Wu Assassins casts Iko Uwais (The Raid: Redemption) in the lead role, as it offically gets a 10-episode series order and takes another step towards the start of production.

Netflix is looking to add another show to their vast collection of original content, as the sci-fi martial arts crime drama Wu Assassins officially gets a series order with Iko Uwais (The Raid: Redemption) attached to star. But don't expect Uwais to just lend his acting abilities to the project, as he will also serve as a producer, martial arts choreographer and stunt coordinator on the series.

The events of the show will take place in San Francisco’s Chinatown and will follow Iko Uwais’ character Kai Jin, “an aspiring chef who becomes the latest and last Wu Assassin, chosen to round up the powers of an ancient triad and restore balance once again.”

Falling Skies writer John Wirth will be fulfilling the role of showrunner on the 10-episode first season, and Altered Carbon’s Byron Mann is currently set to be one of Uwais’ co-stars. Finally, the first two episodes will be directed by Stephen Fung (Into the Badlands).

Production on Wu Assassins is currently set to begin August 17, so more casting announcements are sure to come.

The Raid Redemption is one of those films that I can just keep rewatching and not be bored, always mesmerised and enthralled by it, with amazing choreography as well.
Hopefully Iko gets some good exposure in Mile 22 and it doesn't sell him short.

Damn. Netflix ain’t F-ing around. A martial arts series with Iko in the lead role??? You can count me in. Someone mentioned earlier in the comments about The Force Awakens wasting Iko & Yayan(Mad Dog from The Raid). Same with Donnie in Rogue 1... How can you have Donnie, Iko, & Yayan in a Star Wars movie and not give them fight scenes with lightsabers???? Wasted chances to bring the Asian market into the Star Wars fold. I assure you, Netflix won’t waste Iko...
