During this past weekend's TUDUM event, Netflix hyped up The Old Guard 2 with a video featuring the movie's impressive cast teasing what fans can look forward to in the highly anticipated follow-up.

While the video hasn't been officially released, you can now watch it in the Tweet below (via ActioNewz.com). We don't get much more than a quick look at how work on the sequel is progressing, though everyone involved seems thrilled about the opportunity to up the ante and deliver the sort of epic action that the first movie received such high praise for.

No specific plot details have been revealed about The Old Guard 2 yet, but we do know that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker's second-unit director, Victoria Mahoney, will be behind the camera to helm the action. Joining Charlize Theron in front of it will be returning stars Kiki Layne, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Veronica Ngo, Matthias Schoenaerts, and Marwan Kenzari.

It was previously confirmed that Uma Thurman and Henry Golding will appear in currently undisclosed roles.

The Old Guard franchise is based on the comic books by Greg Rucka and Leandro Fernandez. The story follows Theron's Andromache of Scythia, a.k.a. Andy, the leader of a secret group of highly-trained immortal mercenaries who have operated across the world in secret for centuries.

Rucka will pen the sequel's screenplay, and rumour has it that it will adapt the comic book's second story arc. Netflix clearly feels this property is one with serious franchise potential, which is no great shocker when the first movie received positive reviews and some huge viewing figures on the streaming platform when it debuted.

Are you excited for The Old Guard 2? Let us know your thoughts on that in the comments section and check out this fun interview with the movie's cast in the Tweet below.

Yeah the old guard was just boring. It was trying to be highlander, but highlander understood that you couldn't just have invincible immortals for an action franchise. So they gave an obvious way for them to die, being beheaded. As well as a reason why they can be.

But the immortals here can only be killed if they randomly lose their immortality just somehow. It's never explained why and it just happens whenever. So we have no reason to expect it's ever a possibility, the characters themselves don't see it as a possibility (even using their bodies as shields in the climax), and we know bare minimum the main girl isn't losing hers since she just got her immortality.

So the only tension comes in the possibility of the one character who can die. Wtf?
