Netflix has finally released the first trailer and poster for The Witcher: Blood Origin (via SFFGazette.com). Serving as a prequel to the main The Witcher series, the spin-off will explore a number of important moments in The Continent's history. Those include the creation of the first Witcher and even the eventual Conjunction of the Spheres.

That's an event we've often heard discussed, but the action-packed teaser primarily puts the focus on Michelle Yeoh's Elven warrior, Scian, as she embarks on a mission to regain an ancient blade stolen from her people...even if it means all-out war.

Jacob Collins-Levy, Sophia Brown, and Laurence O'Fuarain are among those who will join the Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Star Trek: Discovery star in the show, and Blood Origin definitely looks like it has some real potential.

We're sure Netflix is hoping this sneak peek will distract from the negativity that continues to surround the franchise following the news Henry Cavill is leaving The Witcher after season 3. The Hunger Games star Liam Hemsworth will replace him as Geralt of Rivia, a casting decision that's been met with a rather mixed response from fans.

"Set in an elven world 1200 years before the time of Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri, The Witcher: Blood Origin will tell a tale lost to history," reads The Witcher: Blood Origin's synopsis, "the creation of the first prototype Witcher, and the events that led to the pivotal Conjunction of the Spheres, when the worlds of monsters, men, and elves merged to become one."

This four-part prequel series is set to premiere on Netflix on December 25.

@thereeljoefish - They rhymed "burning" with "burning" in the trailer song. Boycott this show!

As a Slav, I'm very happy with how accurately Netflix captures the mythology of my culture. The cast of Slavic only actors is also pleasing. Thank you, Netflix. This is my Black Panther.

Dunno, not sure I care enough about the universe of the Witcher outside of its major characters.
I'll give it a chance but not sure the lore of the Continent is enough to keep me
