We've previously heard that Dave Filoni originally planned to make his Star Wars Rebels follow-up another animated series. However, following Rosario Dawson's debut as Ahsoka Tano in The Mandalorian, we're now getting a live-action version of the story in Disney+'s Ahsoka.
That's an exciting prospect on a number of levels, particularly as it means we'll see many fan-favourite characters (Grand Admiral Thrawn and Sabine Wren, for example) on screen in a manner we never imagined was possible. It's likely the show will also be a crucial prelude to the Star Wars movie Filoni has planned.
Thanks to Lucasfilm Japan (via SFFGazette.com), we now have a new banner and still from Ahsoka and are sure you'll agree Dawson looks like an absolute force to be reckoned with.
Talking at Star Wars Celebration earlier this year, the actress dropped a few hints about Ahsoka's mission in the show. "Though she is not a Jedi, she has so much of that at heart for her - she’s driven by trying to do good," Dawson teased. "She sees a threat other people aren’t seeing."
"[Thrawn is] formidable, not somebody to take lightly. She has a sense that there’s something, she knows that these foes are not easily dismissed."

Set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka follows the former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.
In addition to Rosario Dawson in the title role, the series stars Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, the late Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth, David Tennant as Huyang, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn, and Eman Esfandi appearing as Ezra Bridger.
Ahsoka was written by Dave Filoni, who executive produces alongside Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson, and Carrie Beck. Directors include Filoni, Steph Green, Peter Ramsey, Jennifer Getzinger, Geeta Vasant Patel, and Rick Famuyiwa.
Ahsoka will launch exclusively on Disney+ on August 23 with a two-episode premiere.
