Lucasfilm has dropped a new featurette for Ahsoka (via SFFGazette.com) looking back at Rosario Dawson's journey from being cast in The Mandalorian as the first live-action Ahsoka Tano to headlining her own series next month.
In the video, we get a few key insights from the show's creative team along with a handful of never-before-seen BTS shots of Dawson as the beloved Jedi (who debuted in The Clone Wars before taking her surprise return in Star Wars Rebels).
SFX Magazine, meanwhile, recently caught up with Sabine Wren actress Natasha Liu Bordizzo and learned more about the Mandalorian's dynamic with Ahsoka in the show.
"I think there’s a deep level of respect that Sabine has for Ahsoka, as someone to learn from," she teases. "In the show, they've been through a lot in the time that has passed, some of which we know about, some of which we don't."
"Their quests kind of end up overlapping, bringing them back together, and there’s tension and there’s things they’ve been through that they need to work out. Their reunion's interesting!"
It's thought that as many as nine years have passed since the events of Star Wars Rebels in Ahsoka, so we should find these characters in very different places. A LEGO set recently revealed that one of the show's leads will boast a very different look since we last saw them.
You can watch the latest Ahsoka featurette below.
Set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka follows the former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.
In addition to Rosario Dawson in the title role, the series stars Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, the late Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth, David Tennant as Huyang, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn, and Eman Esfandi appearing as Ezra Bridger.
Ahsoka was written by Dave Filoni, who executive produces alongside Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson, and Carrie Beck. Directors include Filoni, Steph Green, Peter Ramsey, Jennifer Getzinger, Geeta Vasant Patel, and Rick Famuyiwa.
Ahsoka will launch exclusively on Disney+ on August 23.
