AHSOKA Gets A New Teaser As Disney+ Premiere Date Draws Near

Ahsoka is set to premiere on Disney+ in just under a month's time, and Lucasfilm has now shared a new teaser promo spotlighting Rosario Dawson's fan-favorite force-wielder in action...

Ahsoka is set to premiere on Disney+ one month from today, and Lucaslfilm has released a brief teaser spotlighting the titular Togruta warrior in action.

The promo is mostly made-up of footage from the recent trailer, but there are a few new shots of Tano wielding her dual-lightsabers as she faces off against fellow force-wielders Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati.

Due to the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, Lucasfilm/Star Wars didn't have much of a presence at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, but some costumes and props from Ahsoka were on display on the convention floor.

You can check out a video of the display in the player below along with the new teaser.

In related news, the actress who voiced Ahsoka in the character's animated adventures has spoken about the negative reaction to her debut during an interview with Popverse.

“It’s been quite the journey., it really has. From the very beginning where she was hated. And one thing to note, we were always a season ahead of what you all saw. We were well into season two by the time you all saw the first movie, so I knew how far she had come. When it came out, so many people hated Ahsoka. First, I sobbed into my cheesecake... But then I took a day to have a pity party."

Tano has since become a lot more popular, of course, but there does tend to be some apprehension whenever a new principal character is introduced to an established universe.

Set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka follows the former Jedi knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.

The series stars Rosario Dawson in the title role, with Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, David Tennant as Huyang, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn, with Eman Esfandi appearing as Ezra Bridger.

Kevin Kiner was announced as the series' composer.

Ahoska is written by executive producer Dave Filoni, alongside executive producers Favreau, Kennedy, Wilson, and Beck. Gilchrist is co-executive producer. The series’ directors include Filoni, Steph Green, Peter Ramsey, Jennifer Getzinger, Geeta Vasant Patel and Rick Famuyiwa.

With Mando going downhill in Season 3, Obi Wan being a dud, and Boba Fett being mostly terrible, it’s tough to be excited for any D+ Star Wars besides Andor.

I will say this though, the trailers make this one look good. I am not up on all the cartoon lore, but I’ve watched the most popular episodes and clips here and there, I think Dawson is a good adult Ashoka, and this seems to be some good lightsaber content.

@mountainman - are these opinions or is there some kind of chart or graph that shows these shows going down hill?
I thought Mando s3 and Obi Won were good.

@slickrickdesigns - Any evaluation of good/bad are opinions. I’m not the only person with these. Mando S3 also saw a huge ratings drop from the first two for an objective metric. But yeah, any time any person says something is good or bad that is, by definition, an opinion.

@mountainman - it's worth at least watching Rebels for this as it's the live action sequel to Rebels but I'd recommend Clone Wars as well honestly.

Glad it's at least a 2 ep premier. I'm keeping the hope it's good since it's Filoni's baby.

@slickrickdesigns - these are facts you just have poor taste

@McMurdo - I’ve heard so many good things about them but it’s honestly the time commitment that has prevented me from doing it.

Here’s my plan. I have a newborn. In a few years when she is old enough to enjoy this stuff, I’ll watch it with her. Then it’s something we can enjoy together. But watching 50+ hours of The Clone Wars and 27+ hours of Revels just isn’t in the cards for me right now.

@McMurdo - based on what I was just told…

@slickrickdesigns - There is a chart and graph of views per minute made by a star wars fan. @mountainman is correct the viewership of these star wars show dip significantly outside of the premiere. Mandalorian S3 and Andor had the worst viewership out of all their shows and thats been the headline of several news outlets too. The views reflect the quality of the shows dipping, just compare it to "The Last of Us" tv show where it was so good it was adding more views every week instead of losing it.

@mastakilla39 - well that’s sad because the last of us was a disappointment.

@slickrickdesigns - We apparently have very different views of TV. I loved last of us, even though it certainly missed the mark from the game in a few key areas. It was still excellent TV and better than most Star Wars in recent years.

@mastakilla39 - Too bad about Andor. It’s the best Star Wars content since Disney took over.

@slickrickdesigns - Thats fine because you are correct its all opinion. For an adaptation TLOU was great, it got "most" of it right and knowing where TLOU 2 ends, some of the additions or changes were fine. I thought Mando S3 was disappointing. Everything that was setup since S1 about the cloning, grogu's DNA, the restoration of Mandalore, etc. all wrapped up so simple and straightforward. I thought there were going to be some twists, turns, and more complexity and thats probably why it was underwhelming for me. But star wars is made for "all ages" so I can see why many people were fine with the simple plot as they value the world and exploration more rather than a complex narrative with a bunch of twists and turns like I do.

@mountainman - Agree to disagree

@mastakilla39 - and that’s how I felt about TLOU, it felt like they were building up to something and the acting was decent but in the end for a zombie apocalypse show they let me down on the zombie part. It didn’t do anything the walking dead didn’t already do.
Mando was straight forward with no twist but it had good build up, decent acting and some great action packed moments.
I feel like anyone who bought into the YouTube theorists/plot guessing making up plot twists got disappointed. But if people payed attention to the characters you could tell all the Josh Wilding guesses and YouTubers were just making up their own plot twist guesses for clicks.

The bloom is off of the Disney rose and this coming from a massive, life-long Star Wars fan.

Kennedy had damaged the brand beyond repair at this point. Favreau gave them the momentum with the return of Luke Skywalker in the Season 2 finale, but then Kennedy came back into the mix thanks to Cheapek and she destroyed everything.

I think I'm slowly getting hyped about this series. Almost feel like compelled to at least check out Rebels too.
