There were once rumblings that Dave Filoni was plotting an animated Star Wars Rebels sequel, and since the show ended with a massive cliffhanger, that news was welcomed. Of course, since Rosario Dawson showed up as Ahsoka Tano in The Mandalorian on the hunt for Grand Admiral Thrawn, it's become clear that the story will actually continue in the upcoming Ahsoka series.

Natasha Liu Bordizzo, who will take on the role of Sabine Wren, recently spoke to Empire (via SFFGazette.com) and shared some insights into her live-action take on the fan-favourite Mandalorian.

"Sabine is so fearless and brave, with so much grace, but she still has flaws," the actor reveals. "She’s not perfect, she’s on her journey, she’s making mistakes. And it’s very high stakes in this galactic war, to make mistakes."

If you're among the Star Wars fans panicking that you'll need an encyclopaedic knowledge of Rebels to follow what's going on in Ahsoka, it thankfully doesn't sound as if that's the case. "A lot of people have not seen Rebels," Bordizzo acknowledged. "It’s great for them to have seen it, but we’ve got a standalone chapter as it is."

Filoni will no doubt find the right balance between telling a story for the hardcore fans and those just curious to follow Ahsoka's story after her recent live-action debut. However, a lot will need to be done in order to bring viewers up to speed on the likes of Ezra Bridger and Thrawn, and we're curious how that's going to work.

In the same interview, Dawson also chimed in to suggest Ahsoka is going to be standalone in nature.

"Dave and Jon [Favreau] are continuing Star Wars in a way where it can be standalone, but it also makes you hungry for more. There have been two instances where [Ahsoka] shown up on a mission, you see how she’s interacting with folks, but you don’t really get her, per se. Even fans who’ve lived with her for so long don’t know where she’s at now in this journey."

As this Galaxy Far, Far Away continues to expand on Disney+, we're seeing a lot of different stories start to link up and flesh out this world in ways we could have never anticipated. That's exciting on a number of levels, and with Ahsoka set to premiere on Disney+ in 2023, it hopefully won't be too much longer before additional details are revealed.

Stay tuned to SFFGazette.com for the latest on this Star Wars series and much more!
