After months of rumours about Hayden Christensen returning as Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader in Ahsoka, we'd expected his involvement in the Disney+ series to be made official at Star Wars Celebration in April.
It didn't happen, and we'll now have to wait and see if those reports pan out.
During a recent conversation with Total Film (via SFFGazette.com), Ahsoka Tano herself, Rosario Dawson, was asked directly about the possibility of sharing the screen with Christensen. However, her response was suitably cryptic!
"It’s pretty remarkable and exciting. We were teenagers, and then I saw him right immediately afterwards go into this universe," she says of the actor. "I never could have fathomed that I would have had any part of that, besides just being a fan of his, and being really proud of him."
"It’s just been really cool that at this moment, I’m joining it, and he’s been able to come back [in 2022’s Obi-Wan Kenobi] and also get embraced by the Star Wars family in a way that I think is much deserved."
"It’s definitely one of those things that would be super cool if he was [in Ahsoka]," Dawson continued, "but I’m just really grateful that we’re in the same universe."
We've previously heard that Christensen will return as Anakin and Vader, likely recreating that fateful duel in Star Wars Rebels. We also can't discount the possibility that we'll finally see the fallen Jedi Knight turned Sith Lord visit his former Padawan as a Force Ghost.
Set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka follows the former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.
In addition to Dawson in the title role, the series stars Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, the late Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth, David Tennant as Huyang, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn, and Eman Esfandi appearing as Ezra Bridger.
Ahsoka will launch exclusively on Disney+ on August 23.
