Disney+ has confirmed (via SFFGazette.com) that Ahsoka will premiere globally on August 23.
An August debut was confirmed during Star Wars Celebration, with it later reported that the series would drop its first episode on August 30; regardless of whether that was correct at the time, we're now getting it a week sooner than expected!
With this news comes a new TV spot that's set to air during tonight's NBA Finals Game 3.
While much of the footage seen here was previously featured in the first teaser trailer, there's a new shot of Sabine Wren wielding Ezra Bridger's lightsaber. For those of you who attended Celebration in April, that's nothing new, but for everyone else, this duel with Shin looks pretty darn thrilling.
It makes sense for Sabine to use the weapon as fallen Jedi Kanan Jarrus once trained her to wield the lightsaber. In Ezra's absence, it looks like the Mandalorian has grown increasingly comfortable with his blade despite not being a Force user.
Set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka follows the former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.
In addition to Rosario Dawson in the title role, the series stars Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, the late Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth, David Tennant as Huyang, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn, and Eman Esfandi appearing as Ezra Bridger.
Ahsoka was written by Dave Filoni, who executive produces alongside Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson, and Carrie Beck. Directors include Filoni, Steph Green, Peter Ramsey, Jennifer Getzinger, Geeta Vasant Patel, and Rick Famuyiwa.
As noted, Ahsoka will launch exclusively on Disney+ on August 23.
