SKELETON CREW Star Jaleel White Reveals When The STAR WARS Series Will Premiere On Disney+

Skeleton Crew has already been confirmed for a 2023 debut, but star Jaleel White has now shared a more specific release window for the highly anticipated Disney+ series starring Captain Marvel's Jude Law.

Skeleton Crew was highlighted at Star Wars Celebration last month and, in the weeks that have followed, excitement for the series has only risen. While a 2023 premiere on Disney+ was confirmed at the event, we now have a more specific release window.

Jaleel White, who plays a pirate in the upcoming series, shared that information during a recent interview. "Yeah, [Skeleton Crew's] coming out in November/December," he confirmed, "and it's part of the Star Wars universe."

With Ahsoka heading to the streaming service in August, this premiere window makes sense and likely means Skeleton Crew will be here right in time for the holidays. After all, with a tone akin to Amblin movies, we're expecting this to be fun family adventure. Well, mostly.

During a recent interview with Empire (via SFFGazette.com), star Jude Law reflected on working with his young co-stars. "I’d get all serious and they’d be looking around thinking, 'Uh-oh, is Jude in a bad mood?'" he remembers with a laugh. "But it was setting the tone: 'This is really serious. We’re at risk.' Of course, what’s wonderful about children is they believe."

"They need guidance, but they’re vulnerable," the actor says of his character's "complicated" relationship with the kids. "And so throughout, the people they meet, you question all of them. Is my character nice? Is he not? You just want them to be alright and get back home."

Skeleton Crew follows the journey of four kids who make a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet, then get lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Finding their way home—and meeting unlikely allies and enemies—will be a greater adventure than they ever imagined."

Jude Law leads the series and is joined by young actors Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Kyriana Kratter, Robert Timothy Smith, and Ryan Kiera Armstrong. Tunde Adebimpe and Kerry Condon also star, while the directing team consists of Jon Watts, Christopher Ford, David Lowery, the Daniels, Jake Schreier, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Lee Isaac Chung.

@blitzkreg - Oh no! What will LucasFilm do without the guy who has a strange personal vendetta against a character from a 90's sitcom? You'll force them to their knees!

@blitzkreg - I don't believe White will be playing Steve Urkel from Family Matters in this show.

Wow, lot of hate for a guy who got stuck playing an annoying character. He’s an ACTOR, folks.

I have a lot of respect for casting directors who can see past actors’ most well-known roles and pluck them out of the no-man’-land of the D-list.

@NoAssemblyReqd - Indeed. It's a rare condition in this day and age.

@NoAssemblyReqd -
Many actors audition for dozens, if not hundreds of roles, never knowing which ones they’ll win. Of the ones they do win, they have NO IDEA if they’ll make an impression, for better or for worse. By the time the movie or show is released, most have (hopefully) already moved on to their next gig to pay the bills. It’s the actors’ dream and nightmare to get a long running gig.

Certainly Mark Hamill didn’t become an actor thinking he’d become best known as Luke Skywalker.

It'd be funny if he said, "this is modern star wars. It's gonna stay in perpetual development forever"

Dope! Loved Steve as a kid. I was sad to find out Jaleel had a bit of a reputation of being hard to work with and having an ego, but I believe I remember reading he's mellowed out when he got older.

OT: but also kinda on brand.

I wanna share 2 things with Star Wars fans.

1) Star Wars Galaxies is an old MMORPG that I never had a chance to play before servers shut down, but I just found out they have private servers up. I just installed and have been playing for about a week and love it, and just wanted to bring attention to this game. If you have a PC, I can send you all the links to get set up and play for free.

2) While playing, I turned off the music and have been playing THIS stream in the background. It's FIRE! The artist name is Closed On Sunday and they do BRILLIANT lofi STAR WARS covers that are perfect for playing STAR WARS GALAXIES. I can't recommend this Playlist enough. Honestly I've been obsessed with it, I've been playing it nonstop. It's too good.

@TheVandalore - I had no idea Galaxies servers were down. For some reason thought it was a recent game

@bkmeijer1 - nope. Official servers closed down JUST as Star Wars: The Old Republic launched because they didn't want two active competing MMORPGs, and there's way more to it. I've seen a few really good YouTube docs breaking down the rise and fall of the game, and only recently after growing tired of The Old Republic did I discover the new servers like LEGENDS and Empire of Fire and others. They all offer different experiences, some 2ith tons of mods and user added updates and new content never in the original game, then there are bare bones servers that are just like the original release before the combat updates and galaxy exploring and combat.

I'm barely scratching the surface, I'm brand new and there is SOOOOO MUCH content and not the whole lot of coverage online about it.

@TheVandalore - that's pretty cool to see it still have such big player support
TheVandalore
TheVandalore - 5/14/2023, 8:47 AM
@bkmeijer1 - definitely cool, and basically everyone is friendly. Not friendly enough to give me a 60 million credits Mandalorian helmet so I can live my dream of playing as a Mandalorian, but still super friendly and helpful.

I play on the LEGENDS Omega server and there are anywhere from 900 to just under 2000 players online at any given time, which is important in a player driven world like SWG. You need other players to give you buffs and to craft and sell things on the market. It's mostly all player based economy unlike really any other game world. So it's great to have active and populated worlds.

@TheVandalore - didn't know that. Sounds pretty engaging to be honest. But right now I'm busy with Forbidden West, so I don't really have time for more games right now

@TheVandalore - Very cool I might actually check this out. I was playing modded with free servers for Jedi Knight 2 Outcast and Jedi Academy for like a decade and the community was awesome. I would suspect a lot of overlap between those two groups.

Also ya Closed on Sundays is great! Been subbed to his channel for a long time now, he just streams lofi SW music non-stop all week long.

@WarMonkey - it's definitely dated but also it kinda blows my mind how some of its systems are way more advanced and immersive than anything I've ever played. I'd check out YouTube for videos on SWG LEGENDS and the different servers available. Most of the videos I found were at least a year or more old, but the info is useful. Honestly, the game has a massive steep learning curve and doesn't hold your hand or guide you at all. But that's what makes the community so rich, everyone knows everyone is trying to learn, and everyone is willing to help. There are literally entire classes for people to chill in cantinas and play music or dance to give other players buffs for experience boosts, combat boosts, agility, energy, strength, health recovery, you name it and they can cater your buffs and love just hanging around and talking to new players. It's great. I've never played a game like it before and it's over a decade old and technically not officially active lol
