With rumours once again swirling that Lars Mikkelsen will reprise his Star Wars Rebels role as the villainous Grand Admiral Thrawn in Ahsoka, we finally have some new intel on the series. Cameras are still rolling for a planned 2023 premiere, and Bespin Bulletin (via SFFGazette.com) has shared some details about an intriguing class of Stormtroopers set to appear in the show.
We're sure you'll recall that Darth Maul is a member of the Zabrak species, and we got to visit their homeworld in the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order video game. The Clone Wars and Rebels similarly explored that culture and planet, and it's become apparent they're a rather unique bunch.
Apparently, we'll see a whole new side of them in Ahsoka in the form of Zabrak Stormtroopers. It's said they'll be decked out in white and burgundy uniforms, and we're definitely excited to learn how Emperor Palpatine managed to enlist such formidable warriors to his Empire. That's assuming he recruited them, of course; they could be serving Thrawn.
It's also noted that there are still plans for Captain Rex to appear in some capacity, while Eman Esfandi's Ezra Bridger is expected to be rocking a goatee when he returns.
That's not exactly a groundbreaking reveal, we know, but with so much speculation surrounding Ezra's place in the Galaxy following his disappearance, we'll take what we can get.
While there had once been plans for an animated series to serve as a sequel to Rebels, the decision was instead made to tell this story in Ahsoka, meaning we'll see a lot of fan-favourite characters make their live-action debuts here. Fans are bound to be hoping this won't be a one-off, of course, though who knows what Dave Filoni's long-term Ahsoka Tano plans are.
Both he and Jon Favreau are nothing if not secretive, but providing Ahsoka is a hit, we're sure the character will be sticking around - along with the crew of the Ghost - for many more adventures.
Be sure to stay tuned to SFFGazette.com for updates on Ahsoka.
