Movie runtimes have been making headlines for years, but with the MCU and Star Wars now consistently on television thanks to Disney+, we've seen an increase in interest on that side of things as well.
While Andor was relatively consistent from week to week, TV shows like The Mandalorian and Obi-Wan Kenobi have been criticised for varying perhaps too much, particularly with episodes which near the 30-minute mark in place of the far more satisfying 45-minute to an-hour window.
You can't ultimately blame fans for wanting more, hence why there was some excitement about Ahsoka's 2-episode series premiere clocking in at a feature length 90+ minutes in total.
Alas, we're seeing a disappointing trend continue with the series as it's been revealed (via SFFGazette.com) that episode 3 of Ahsoka will be only 34 minutes, 50 seconds and just 31 minutes, 8 seconds without credits.
It's hard not to be disappointed but the decision is one that could have something to do with how Filoni wishes to approach telling the story which began in The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. Still, with the streaming bubble having burst, we're sure many fans will question why Lucasfilm (and Marvel Studios) aren't just making these surprisingly short TV shows into movies instead.
Here's the latest Ahsoka runtimes:
Set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka follows the former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.
In addition to Rosario Dawson in the title role, the series stars Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, the late Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth, David Tennant as Huyang, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn, and Eman Esfandi appearing as Ezra Bridger.
Ahsoka was written by Dave Filoni, who executive produces alongside Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson, and Carrie Beck. Directors include Filoni, Steph Green, Peter Ramsey, Jennifer Getzinger, Geeta Vasant Patel, and Rick Famuyiwa.
Ahsoka will launch exclusively on Disney+ on August 23 with a two-episode premiere.
