The Clone Wars ended way too soon, but thanks to Disney+, we did eventually get a seventh season and a proper conclusion to the story.
Dave Filoni had to condense many of the ideas planned for the animated series, with a number of episodes remaining unfinished and unlikely to ever see the light of day. However, having that extra time to work on The Clone Wars meant making changes to how the story was once going to play out.
Chief among them was swapping out Ahsoka Tano's boyfriend with the Martez sisters!
Talking at Emerald City Comic Con (via SFFGazette.com), Ahsoka Tano voice actress Ashley Eckstein revealed that, "I think they made everything that I recorded, because they did adjust it, but the episodes with Trace, and Rafa, and the Martez sisters, that was originally an arc with...Ahsoka had a boyfriend and his name was Nyx Okami."
"And so yeah, it was originally that arc, so we essentially just remade it, and they changed it to the Martez sisters, which I have to say, I was very glad they changed it to the Martez sisters, because Ahsoka didn’t have time for a boyfriend. I wasn’t super crazy about that."
Nyx has previously been described as being akin to Han Solo, while the hope had been for him to also be one of the Star Wars franchise's first Asian male leads. However, we'd agree with Eckstein that this change was ultimately for the best in terms of how Ahsoka's specific arc played out.
During the same event, actors Dee Bradley Baker and James Arnold Taylor also confirmed that The Clone Wars season 8 was much closer to becoming a reality than first thought.
Taylor mentioned that "there was a lot that was recorded," adding: "George Lucas originally said he wanted to do 300 episodes of 'The Clone Wars.'"
There's always a chance we could see at least some of these "lost" episodes of The Clone Wars on Disney+, though we're not banking on that. As it stands, the series got a perfect ending and Ahsoka's story will continue in live-action later this year.
