THE MANDALORIAN Star Rosario Dawson Reveals When She Expects AHSOKA To Premiere On Disney+

Rosario Dawson first played Ahsoka Tano in The Mandalorian, and ahead of the character's own upcoming live-action spin-off, the actress has shared some news on when it's likely to arrive on Disney+...

Ahsoka is set to premiere on Disney+ later this year, and all signs point to Lucasfilm having ambitious plans for Rosario Dawson's take on the fan-favourite character.

After gaining a massive following for her role in The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels (where she was voiced by Ashley Eckstein), Ahsoka Tano finally made her live-action debut in The Mandalorian, with Dawson later reprising the role in The Book of Boba Fett. She's now set to take centre stage in that spin-off, though there have already been rumblings about season 2 plans.

Before we get to that, of course, it would be nice to know when we can expect Ahsoka to continue the former Jedi's story!

During a recent interview on TODAY with Hoda and Jenna (via SFFGazette.com), Dawson shared a likely premiere date window for the show. "'Ahsoka,' that's going to probably come out in the Fall," she confirmed. "We're going to have 'Haunted Mansion' coming out in August first."

The new Haunted Mansion movie recently shifted to The Marvels' release date in July, so that's actually coming a little sooner than expected. With The Mandalorian set to wrap up after eight weeks in late April, a Fall debut would be a long wait for fans. Skeleton Crew is also expected to debut this year, so Ahsoka could be moved up a little.

We'd expect an official announcement to be made during this April's Star Wars Celebration, anyway.

Primarily a Star Wars Rebels sequel dealing with the respective fates of Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn, Ahsoka promises to be an important addition to the franchise as Dave Filoni continues to explore the Galaxy's lore. With Hayden Christensen expected to return as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, it should be one worth keeping an eye on.

Recent rumours have even indicated this show is going to delve into very different sides of this Galaxy, with magic deepening the Star Wars franchise's mythology in new and unexpected ways. That won't sit well with every fan, of course, but we have all the faith in the world in Dave Filoni's storytelling abilities.

I'm trying to give a [frick] but I just can't. The Last Jedi kinda ruined Star Wars for me. And that's really sad because I had an almost 40 year history with this beloved franchise.

@GreedoSarducci - It did for me as well, but the Mandalorian resurrected my interest to an extent. It (Mando) also got me to watch The Clone Wars and then Star Wars Rebels (haven't watched the last two episodes yet) which has me cautiously excited about Ashoka. I say cautiously because Mando Season 1 and 2 were really good as was Andor. Boba Fett was meh and Kenobi was awful. But that's just me. :)

@Arkay - I'll admit, I did watch Mando. But I'm having a hard time getting excited about anything else after the bit of Kenobi I ingested.

@GreedoSarducci - Oh? TLJ did that to ya, huh? That kinda seems like an oversimplification. I'd say corporate kinda ruined Star Wars, and the few times George was wrong with his vision (although that's his right and prerogative). Clone Wars and spin offs saved it for me. Mando to an extent. The Book of Power...er, Boba Fett brought it back down to earth. I've repressed the 3rd film almost entirely save for a few ghosts here and there. The true dark side is greed...I'm fascinated whenever it shows itself. I'll refrain from showcasing 80's Michael Douglas...again.

@The1st - no, I'm honest about TLJ. It really killed my love for the franchise. First SW movie I didn't see in the theater (read the spoilers and cancelled my tickets).

George needed a scriptwriter to clean up the dialog and someone else to direct the actors for the Prequels but at least he had a cohesive vision for the Trilogy. The ST was such a [frick]ing mess I can't stand it.

@GreedoSarducci - I get where you're coming from, but Rian tried to give us empire, in his own way mind you, and it seemed better than anything else we got...other than the nostalgia moments. I'm kinda sick of them and easter eggs being stand ins for a good story when it comes to scf fi and comics movies actually.

@GreedoSarducci - I wouldn’t have first season of mandalorian if that was true Star Wars I give anything chance ashoka I don’t feel it need series another Jedi adventure in for it andore I’m fighting watch last episode season show is boring

@The1st - that's the problem. I didn't want another TESB, I wanted a good, new SW film. I Don't think we ever got that with the ST. All three movies were meh at best. Mando was definitely better.

@dragon316 - God bless you Dragon. Keep carrying that torch.

@Arkay - they already retconned Grogu and Luke simply to have Grogu moments in ever future episode. The storytelling is secondary.

@Arkay - well the guy who did Clone Wars and Rebels, as well as Mando, is doing Ahsoka. The people responsible for Boba Fett and Kenobi are fortunately not involved.
Arkay

@globaltravels - Dave Filoni. He was exec producer of Book of Boba Fett along with Jon Favreau. Still, that's the only semi-miss for him in my view, so I'm looking forward to Ahsoka.

@dragon316 - I'm not happy with what they did with Grogu in Boba Fett. Also not happy with what they did with Luke forcing him to choose, but at least he wasn't that god-awful luke from TLJ.

Can't wait. Ahsoka has come a long way as a character.

With Feloni as showrunner, I expect gold. The man rarely disappoints

If this is meant to be a sequel to Rebels I do wonder if people who haven’t watched that show will be able to follow what’s going.
