Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Birds of Prey, 10 Cloverfield Lane) has joined the cast of Disney+'s upcoming The Mandalorian spinoff, Ahsoka. No details on her role were provided.
This news follows the recent announcement that Natasha Liu Bordizzo will play a live-action take on Star Wars Rebels fan-favorite Sabine Wren. They join Rosario Dawson, reprising her The Mandalorian season 2 role as the titular force-wielder, and Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader.
Ukrainian actress Ivanna Sakhno is also set to play a mysterious new character created for the show.
Winstead has appeared in the likes of Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, the Fargo TV series, The Thing remake, and much more. She recently played Huntress in the Birds of Prey movie, and is rumored to return to the role at some point down the line.
In the closing moments of the Rebels series finale, Ahsoka and Sabine embarked on a mission to find Ezra Bridger after the young Jedi was seemingly sucked into a wormhole during his battle with Grand Admiral Thrawn. Though these events weren't mentioned specifically in Tano's episode of The Mandalorian, there were a few hints that she might be searching for answers during her confrontation with Magistrate Morgan Elsbeth.
Bridger and Thrawn have yet to be cast. Ahsoka is rumored to begin shooting next summer for a 2023 premiere date.
