Boba Fett is back!

There was speculation that the mysterious figure that approached the lifeless body of Fennec Shand (Ming Na Wen) in Season 1 of The Mandalorian might turn out to be the iconic bounty hunter first introduced in the The Empire Strikes Back, and it's now been confirmed.

According to THR, Temuera Morrison will play Fett in Season 2 of the Disney+ Star Wars series. As any fan of the galaxy far, far away will surely be aware, the Kiwi actor actually played Boba's father Jango Fett in Attack of The Clones.

It's important to note that The Mandalorian is set after the events of Return of The Jedi, which means Fett did indeed survive his fall into the Sarlacc Pit.

Morrison is not expected to have a substantial role in the upcoming season, but the groundwork will no doubt be laid for him to return at some point in the future. Who knows... he may even star in that Boba Fett movie fans have been clamoring for all these years?

What do you guys make of this news? Will you be glad to see the return of this fan-favorite Star Wars character? Let us know in the usual place.

@Tony93 - If anyone is a Clone Wars fan, he could also be playing Rex, especially considering that Ahsoka is pretty much confirmed. Wonder if they will lightly de-age him a bit (digitally, or just make-up) to play Boba, considering he's almost 20 years older than Boba would be at that time.

@Tony93 - honestly I never understood why everyone has such a boner for him. Yeah he looked cool and then he went out in a toothed vagina! Mando is so much better.

I won't get my hopes up until an official announcement from Disney, Feloni or Favreau confirms that he's Boba. He could be playing any number of clones that survived the war (but I seriously hope it's Boba).

@RyConn93 - Usually once “the Hollywood reporter” or “variety” reports it, it’s definitely going to happen.

Plus don’t forget they teased him in Season 1

@RyConn93 - I'd actually prefer to see a clone that survived instead. I think it'd be a cool concept.

@TheJustinHammer - You’ve got a good point there. I gave up buying comics long ago. Thanks for the pointer.

@OmegaDaGrodd -
This is so dumb. Boba Fett did more in the movies than a lot of other fan favourites (Wedge Antilles, Quinlan Voss, Aurra Sing, TR8R, ETC), yet internet douchebags only want to shit on Boba Fett fans for some reason.

People like Boba Fett because he's basically the Deathstroke of the Star Wars universe. Even if you only want to count the movies for your arguments (which is dumb, but whatever), he:

• Predicted Han Solo's every move in Ep5. He was also able to detect Luke Skywalker the moment he started following him on Cloud City.
• Stood up to Darth Vader and even outright threatened him in a movie where Vader was killing people for slightest inconveniences. At one point, Vader even had to assure Boba Fett that the Empire would compensate him if Han Solo died, implying a degree of respect.
• Double-dipped by collecting bounties for Solo from both Vader and Jabba the Hutt. Ep6 also showed that Boba Fett was a womanizer, adding to his bounty hunter persona.
• Was singled out by Vader for his tendency to disintegrate targets.
• Badass voice, mannerisms, and costume.
• And a bunch of other subtleties that makes him well-liked.

But hey, if you want to shit on people for liking Boba Fett, don't bother making a comment about how "This miner MCU character that did absolutely nothing is awesome!" I have people on this site say that about The Collector, Howard the Duck, Martin Freeman, etc, which really isn't all that different from people liking Boba Fett.
