RUMOR MILL: THE MANDALORIAN Season 2 And AHSOKA TANO Spinoff Will Feature Captain Rex And Sabine Wren

There have been rumblings about live-action plans for Captain Rex and Sabine Wren for a while, but a new rumour doing the rounds suggests that both characters will appear in The Mandalorian and beyond...

Kessel Run Transmissions has been a reliable source of Star Wars information for a while now, breaking a number of big stories about the future of this Galaxy Far, Far Away on the small screen. Now, they're reporting that two key characters will be part of the rumoured Ahsoka Tano series which is reportedly coming to Disney+ and spins out of the events of The Mandalorian

On their latest YouTube livestream, they reveal that both Captain Rex and Sabine Wren will be part of this series, with Temuera Morrison playing the former, and an unknown actress as the latter.

They also double down on previous reports that both Rex and Sabine are set to appear in the upcoming second season of The Mandalorian, and state that they have 100% confirmation that we'll see Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka and a live-action version of Katee Sackhoff's Bo-Katan Kryze.

Clearly, someone has been cast as Sabine, and the prevailing theory online is that it could be WWE Superstar Sasha Banks. However, it's unclear how she would be able to fit in a leading role in a TV series like Ahsoka Tano with her commitments to the wrestling world (some of the company's pro wrestler's are allowed to take time off to tackle outside projects, however).

We'll have to wait and see, but we're gonna need that trailer for The Mandalorian ASAP...

I've seen Rebels but I guess i need to get on Clone Wars some time before this drops.

If Sabine kept her helmet on for the Mandalorian appearance, then they don’t have to finalize casting for a while... whomever they get can come in and dub the voice before the episode airs.

In any event, I’m looking forward to these characters even if I didn’t watch much of the Clone Wars cartoon.

@Chewtoy - I expect that the Mandalorian will handle the Clone Wars characters in such a way that if you haven't watched the Clone Wars, you won't be lost, but if you have watched the cartoon, it will just mean that much more to you.

That said, the first season or two of Clone Wars was very kid oriented/friendly... but as it progressed the stories became a bit more adult oriented, even though they were animated.

@Chewtoy - they should just go with the voice actor Tiya Sircar.

I said it before, I'll say it again: A clone style VFW where there is just a bunch of old, grizzled Temuera Morrison's hanging out together having a beer. That's what I want.

Grief Carga and Mando have to retrieve some information to get to Ahsoka, but the only lead is that she hangs out with a Clone Wars Veteran (apparently a Captain of Sorts who used to work for the Rebellion as well), well what are you gonna do to find a guy like that? Go to the Clone Bar!

It's so simple yet it would flesh out the Universe so much better. Think about it: The Empire didn't give two shits about the Clones after the Stormtrooper programm really kicked into gear and now there's just thousands and thousands of these guys somewhere out there in the galaxy without real purpose!

I just think that if you introduce a whole bunch of Clone Characters in your Clone Wars show you should put them to use.
Boil, Trapper, Oddball, Cody of the 212th
Appo, Fox, Hawk of the 501st.
Bacara and Bly.
Wolffe and almost all of the Wolf Pack.

THERE STILL OUT THERE!

@SpaceAgent - i think the clones die after a short time no? And I also think there was some implant that Rex removed which kept his brain from melting. Something like that, really fuzzy 😂, but there some reasons given why there’s no more Clones.

But I’m still for it. Give me more clones 😉

I feel that both Rex' and Ahsoka's arcs have come full circle with The Clone Wars now, but I can see Sabine appear somewhere down the line (and I wonder if she'll keep the helmet on)

@bkmeijer - watch Rebels and you'll see they have much more story to tell.

@Philvis - Yeah I saw, and for Sabine there is. I just never really saw a connection between Ahsoka and Ezra there for their story together to continue (although it probably will still happen)

I think this will really help to bridge the prequels and OT. Temuera Morrison just oozes Star Wars. He fits easily into the OT and Prequels so well
