We recently found out that Academy Award nominee Nick Nolte had joined the cast of the live-action Star Wars series, and now we have some possible details on who - or rather, what - he'll be playing...
It was recently confirmed that Nick Nolte (Hulk, Cape Fear) had joined the cast of Star Wars: The Mandalorian, and now we may have some intriguing details on what type of character he'll be playing.
According to the usually reliable Making Star Wars, the Academy Award nominee will actually be portraying an Ugnaught. Yes, really.
Apparently, Nolte will only provide the voice and facial movements for the character via a new state-of-the-art animatronic mask which will be worn by a "small woman" on set. Nolte is said to have performed his scenes while taking a break from a different project, which suggests that his role will not be a particularly substantial one.
We'll have to treat this as a rumor for now, or course, but let us know what you think about the prospect of Nick Nolte playing one of the techie pig-aliens from Empire down below.
After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.
Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok), Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels), Deborah Chow (Jessica Jones), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope) and Bryce Dallas Howard (Solemates) will all helm installments of the series.
There's no release date for The Mandalorian just yet, but it is expected to premiere on Disney+ at some point next year.
