The season 2 finale of The Mandalorian featured a post-credits tease for a spinoff titled The Book of Boba Fett, and it was revealed shortly after that the series had actually been filming for a while. With production expected to wrap soon, rumors have started doing the rounds online, and this one is sure to pique the interest of old-school Star Wars fans.
LRM is reporting that The Book of Boba Fett will feature appearances from some "fan favourite" bounty hunters. They don't mention any names, but we have a few ideas.
The most obvious guesses would be Fett's "colleagues" from The Empire Strikes Back. Zuckuss, 4-Lom, IG-88, Dengar and Bossk were all tasked with hunting down the Millenium Falcon alongside the infamous mercenary, with the latter two going on to play more prominent roles in The Clone Wars. Another character introduced in that animated series is Cad Bane, who also has strong ties to Fett.
Fans have been hoping to see a live-action take on Bane for years, and TBOBF seems like the perfect place to reintroduce the ruthless Duros bounty hunter.
Of course, there may be no truth to this rumor. It wouldn't exactly be a massive surprise to see Fett run into some of his old pals during the series, and the fact that the source doesn't provide any specifics suggests that this may be more speculation than solid insider info.
TBOBF will star Temuera Morrison as the legendary bounty hunter and Ming-Na Wen as Fennec Shand. Jon Favreau will produce the show along with Dave Filoni and Robert Rodriguez, who helmed the Fett-centric chapter of The Mandalorian, "The Tragedy."
What do you guys think? Are there any other bounty hunters from the galaxy far, far away you'd like to see show up in The Book of Boba Fett?
