THE MANDALORIAN Season 3 Rumored To Include Live-Action Debut Of Another STAR WARS REBELS Character

With The Mandalorian season 3 exploring Mandalorian culture, we perhaps shouldn't be surprised to learn that another key character from Star Wars Rebels looks set to make their live-action debut this year!

With the Star Wars franchise rapidly expanding on the small screen thanks to Disney+, characters we've previously only seen in animation are now making the leap to live-action.

Ahsoka Tano, Bo-Katan Kryze, and Cad Bane are among the most noteworthy examples, while Ahsoka is set to adapt a number of Star Wars Rebels characters, including Hera Syndulla and Sabine Wren. Before we get to that show, however, there may be plans for The Mandalorian's current third season to also bring back a familiar face.

According to Making Star Wars (via SFFGazette.com), Kevin McKidd - who starred alongside Obi-Wan Kenobi's Ewan McGregor in Trainspotting - looks set to reprise his role as Mandalorian character Fenn Rau.

McKidd was reportedly spotted on set last year and the site has supposedly heard this information from a number of sources.

In Star Wars Rebels, it was established that he hailed from Concord Dawn and was part of a group called The Protectors. While his allies were killed, we learned during his conversations with Jedi Kanan Jarrus that they one fought side-by-side during the Third Battle of Mygeeto in the Clone Wars.

Rau is a good guy and reluctantly became a Rebel in order to counter the villainous Gar Saxxon. He'd eventually establish himself as a hero by saving Sabine's family, and we're guessing he'll be on the same side as Din Djarin and Bo-Katan here.

This is a fun way to pay homage to Rebels and the history of Mandalore in the Star Wars Galaxy. It's unclear how large of a role McKidd will play in The Mandalorian (it may be a glorified cameo), but we wouldn't be surprised if this sets the stage for Rau to appear in Ahsoka as well.

As always, we'll be sure to keep you updated. With just five episodes left in season 3, though, we're sure it won't be long until this rumour is confirmed or debunked!

So this show will continue to try to introduce other spin off characters like it ineffectively did in Season 2? I was hoping that third episode was a fluke in being bad.

@Gmoney84 - Some of us just want this show to stick to what it does best - which is Mandelorian related stuff. I don’t want it connecting to the sequel trilogy and don’t need a cameo per episode. The pershing side story was a waste of time and hijacked the show.

We’re not gonna keep spending time introducing and reintroducing characters for spin offs are we? I know this might sound crazy but The Mandalorian should be about The Mandalorian. I know that sound ridiculous to have a show focus on its title character but “This is the Way”.

@dragon316 - Not if you're like me and 100% believe that the title "The Mandalorian" actually has been referring to Grogu and his story of becoming both Jedi and Mandalorian, the entire time.

My order of preference for introducing characters from Rebels / Clone Wars into live action would be:

1. Hera Syndulla & Chopper
2. Zeb Orrelios
3. Asajj Ventress
4. Sabinne Wren
5. Captain Rex
6. Embo & Marrok
7. Quinlan Vos
8. Hondo Ohnaka

@UncleHarm1 - Props for those names, quite inventive. Are they from your own Star Wars made up head canon or did you just make them up to troll?
But seriously good job on of them.

@hummingbird68 - Thanks lol I put more time into that comment than I care to admit. Star wars names are the best they literally called the nerd guy in Mandalorian pencil pusher. His name is Pen Pershing

@LimeD - According to wookiepedia Glup Shitto has 10,000 pages of backstory and has never made a single appearance in any media.
